I don't exactly blame you for not remembering, it being so long since the last update, but it has already been said that what is opposing MC isn't the will of the world, the Spirit King they met earlier said it was something else that was "unreasonable and illogical"

Maybe whatever it is, it goes against Dwight because he's "out of sequence". As in, he's not a Demon Lord who got empowered, went against mankind to be rekt by the season's Hero. He's just a "regular" mofo who calls himself Demon Lord and has the power and intelligence to back it up, no "Will of the World" involved or whatever it is.

Or more simply, Dwight broke the planned scenario and whatever created that scenario in the first place doesn't like it so it keeps empowering "JRPG-like staple characters" to defeat him: a Hero, a Saintess, an Isekaid'd earthling... And now it's the Demon Lord, another one of those. This is just my personal theory, though.

I'm glad the MC mentioned it in the chapter, that it's a huge contradiction, a clear error by The World, to allow the manifestation of a demon lord, to destroy the current demon lord.

And while I do appreciate characters lampshading obvious flaws, it's still really fucking weird how the world just hates the idea of the demon-lord so much, it's willing to destroy every living being on the planet, just in order to get rid of it, whatever the cost....And now, even at the cost of adding yet another demon lord to the mix.

I don't know, at this point, it just feels personal, specifically against Dwight, right?

You see it in other stories, like that reborn as a demon lord one, or that No Skills one; where the Hero and Demon Lord are just part of a cycle, to keep the tech/population levels down and the world balanced between darkness and light. Dwight is a flaw in the system, a villager taking over both Hero and Demon Lord positions to keep the system from running.

The Will of the World wants Dwight to carry out his role as Demon Lord, fight, rule through tyranny, and then die to a hero. It is a cycle that Dwight is breaking, and that is why it personally is against Dwight. The previous Demon Lord was receptive to playing out that role "properly", at least, so is superior to Dwight for the Will of the World; the poison you know versus the poison you don't, in other words.
