He didn't communicate with or kill the hero because that's how these stories work. This whole chapter was so paint-by-numbers cliched that it might as well have been written by a shonen action manga AI trained on the most cliched shonen manga ever written. I honestly can't believe anyone would be surprised by this turn of events, it's so predictable and standard.
Oh, I don't think we are suprised.
That said, this isn't standard shonen... this is standard web novel BS....
Proper shonen manga actually have much higher standards than Web Novels.... mainly because they come from a professional space from the start... while web novels are basically original novels written by random fans... so they are closer to fan fiction.
And these publications then turn these fanfic novels into actual novels (with some edits to have a slightly higher quality) and then a manga which is usually a bit better than the novel because it is faster paced and doesn't have a lot of the excess....
And usually, the web novels that are this dumb are often the ones that try hard to be serious and have overly serious themes (like drama, racism, slavery, war, and etc) and end up screwing their story over with complex themes they don't have the writing skills to actually do...
The ones that are good are usually light hearted, have no overly complex plot, no real antagonist and are focused more on fun and maybe even harem/slice of life... and own it...
