I love the conversation about the phalanx here, really highlights about national pride. During the Chielo war Kurt told Ahmat that Imperial Army imitate Turkiye phalanx while during this chapter the imperial army is convinced that Turkiye imitate theirs.
Which one is right?
It's hard to say. Mahmut stated that the Turkiye phalanx are a recent invention ever since the Turks settled down and began researching how to fight in groups, therefore, there is a chance they are copying imperial army but at the same time it's possible that they invent it themselves. On the other hand Balt-Rhein have existed for four centuries and have tons of experience on the battlefield so it's completely possible for them to invent it themselves, of course it's also possible for them to copy the Turks decades ago. The final possibility would be they both invent it independent of each other while being unaware of other invention.
