If Mahmut just sit back relax and let Zaganos do his thing, he will still achieve what he wants in the end aka peaceful despotism Turkiye. Instead he chose to ruin Zaganos's plan and throw himself in danger just to save some rebels and an old conservative man?

Louis pointed out that Zaganos lacks the talent to persuade people, which is something Mahmut has. They should have collaborated like when they save Altin and conquer St michael, not trying to sabotage each other like this.

Zaganos has the patience of a saint. Imagine crafting a perfect plan for the greater good and then someone with main chara aura just appear and ruin it. But he still ‘let’s see what you have to say’. He’s always been patient when it comes to Mahmut from the start so I guess it cant be helped.

Zaganos basically found himself in Baraban's situation. Back when Baraban just ascend as Sultan he used schemes to fish out his wicked followers but his people ended up leaving him as time went on. It also reminds me when Baraban said that capable rulers needs talents to be loved by their subjects

Zaganos' thing will cost Turkiye many of its talented Viziers who have contributed to the long war against Balt-rhein, making them leave either due to pride of the old system or wary of a purge. Even if Zaganos's plan succeed and he stabilize things, losing most of its officers at this stage will make the new empire fragile and make its meritocracy seems laughable due to how many good officers they just lost.

This isn't about Zaganos being patient. Just like with Ibrahim, Zaganos made a miscalculation. The only difference now is Mahmut already plan thoroughly.
