Yeah like everyone's saying, this is probably the most blatant looming axe ever, lmao. I'm willing to be proven wrong, but I doubt I will be.

It's been awhile since I've read the earlier chapters, so correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't his merchant level increase based on the amount of trust in him or something?

If so, then this rapid level up, while convenient, isn't the deus ex machina people are claiming it to be.

It's not that this feels out of place, or that it isn't how his skill works or whatever to the point of it feeling like a deus ex machina, it just feels very much so like an axe, with the pacing+tone of the situation. It's just vibes, but I've seen enough axes to know the vibes an axe likes to give.
