Oh my god I can't! That first page was heartbreaking but the rest just as much. I was so scared she might have died before he got back to her. I want them to live happily ever after but if not then I really hope they will die together. :'(

Oh my god! I never thought I could survive reading this chapter. This is hurt so much🥹 the crying never stop from that 1st page, I thought that was the most heartbreaking one but the rest of the chapter hurt the most especially when Tokoyo is begging, I can't 😭 my eyes just can't read from all tears coming out. I agree that if she would die in the end it was better if they die together than she leave him alone.
I just think that all along Tokoyo never had a long time of happiness, through out her life it was miserable, same with Jintarou he also live a sad life that the only difference is that he had his grandpa at his side but eventually he also past away. Both are very sad and depressing life, I want them to be happy even in death, they deserved to be happy🥹

I came back here after reading the remaining chapters from chapter 38-41.2, I just read the raws but I use a tranlator and also I'm studying japanese so I have a little bit of knowledge of the language.
Chapter 38 - I think you could say it was a continuation of chapter 37 but this time Jintarou is convincing Tokoyo that he is not the only person people needed of or looking for, they also need Tokoyo, that people are waiting for her return and that he was a greedy human that after getting his dream he make another one(I think he also said this in the previous chapter). Then they vowed to lived together. It's heartwarming but kinda sad especially the back and forth convo between them. I did not cried this time but it's still hit.
Chapter 39 - when I start reading this manga I have a thought that it's set in an era of Showa hence the title and as far as I know that is the era where the WWII happened so I have a gut feeling that the story might be set in the war time and throughout reading it I forgot that thought and this chapter reminded me of that. So as everyone knows war broke out and all men at a certain age need to be enlist to the military in this case Jintarou take a test for that and he passed with flying colors then he inform Tokoyo about it and he insist that they will officially be married at Ritsu-chan shrine before his deployment for 2 years. So they got married there and had their little honeymoon (it's cute)🥺. Then he been deployed, at 1st they exchange letters and he inform her that the 2 years now become 3 then it continue for 5 years but the letter was suddenly stop coming but Tokoyo is fighting to live and wait for Jintarou's to come home. The last 2 pages of the chapter break my heart again🥹.
Chapter 40 - break me soooo much 😭 reading it is so painful even remembering it is hurting 🥹 The pain Tokoyo endured through out the years, her dedication to her promised to him and still writing even though she doesn't receive any letter back. All of it compiled then that last few pages of the chapter is the one that hurts more, the news that broke her into pieces(also broke me🥹) I just want to hug her.
Chapter 41 - is the continuation of the last chapter that is also hard to read especially when my eyes is are all wet from tears that won't stop. They had a funeral rights even though the only thing that comes back from Jintarou is a letter and a piece of bone, and looking at Tokoyo you knew she give up already. The love of her life is gone forever and for her she was all alone so the poison with mercury that Tamako gave to them to use as disinfectant that just a drop could kill you, she took it out and drink it but it's not a poison anymore because Jintarou change the content of it into sugar water. Then the Karatachi bloom beside her and she see it as a sign that Jintarou want her to live and Jintarou is always with her.
Chapter 41.1 - the year is 1945 the end of war but of course the devastating effect it leaves to places where air raid happened and to people that lost their lives and love ones is shown, and Tokoyo is still fighting the illness of TB and find solace at the Karatachi that Jintarou planted at their guesthouse that is now closed since Jintarou's enlistment. When she is drown with sadness she always went there to cry just like the old days but this time around she knew that there is no Jintarou anymore that would hush her from crying. But still she weep there and silently calling Jinta-chan name, then a miracle happened a voice said "Princess Karatachi". I don't know if she is hallucinating or is she dreaming again but I want to believe what I'm seeing is real (this gives me hope) because if not I don't think I could take this anymore.
Chapter 41.2 - this is the last chapter and it opened when Tokoyo wakes up. . . for a minute there I swear my heart and mind shout to protest but on the last panel of the 1st page there we could see Jintarou sleeping beside her... My Goodness I jump for joy when I see that. Of course they just show what happened to Jintarou during his time in the military, why he lost his left arm and left eye and the after effect of war on him. Then Tokoyo is already healed from her TB thanks to both Dr. Shiratori (Tamako and Hakaru are married to each other😉) so they re-open the guesthouse and parlour and Lise is back and also Tsukihiko who is a grown man now and much taller than Tokoyo and Lise is being a guest with his family to be there also. Then I also find out why that mercury poison bottle has sugar water in it instead of that chemical is because he use it to develop photos and he just think to clean the bottle and just put water sugar in it incase. Then after sometime Tokoyo announced she is already pregnant and we see the after photo of everyone, Tokoyo and Jintarou during the pregnancy period, then when she gave birth with their first born a baby boy then a photo with of them when the baby is a toddler who really looks like a Shima, then Tsukihiko with Lise together👀 with possible Tsukihiko sibligs or not?.
So that's it finally I finished this I'm happy and satisfied with this ending, thank you Sana-sensei 🙇 this manga is sad and depressing, sometimes cute and happy but all in all it made me feel so much. Thank you for that happy ending 😌
