Cheap tension. Fake out deaths and fake struggles this early is not a good sign for the story.

Leaving the heroes sword for someone else to grab and handling everything to the best of your current abilities is way fucking cooler than just instantly becoming a hero with Rex's limited potential. Saving up the goblin slayer knives for usage during a surprise goblin demon lord reveal is fucking cool too I hope the fights keep getting more gamier.

Aight, I'm dropping this. The stat progression incoherency, the total lack of actual story planning, the cheap tropes and generally bad writing has gotten too overbearing. Tried giving this a chance, but the writing and story telling is just too bad. It's like a child trying to tell a story through improv, constantly forgetting the setting created in previous chapters and continuously creating hard to believe situations.
