I'm confused. In the early chapters, it was mentioned that the adventurer boy partied with three girls his age. But now, the translation is implying that Newk is actually a boy. Although I've noticed before that his character design leans towards more of that as a boy, my mind has locked on the premise that he was a girl.

Thats because they aren't the heroes.

They're basically what Goblin Slayer's Priestess original party would've been if they were trained correctly.

Rex is their trainer and master, so they're growing aside from the Hero's party to be that elite squad that would save the Hero's butt in a moment of despair.

That early bit wasn't describing the heroes, it was describing this very party and their fates given certain decisions (e.g. Rex dying, the three girls dying and Radd surviving, Radd dying). As another hint to what's most likely happening here, the translator also misgenders Maisie in this chapter. Either the early one was wrong multiple times or the current one is.

Bear in mind this translator still, 15 chapters in, refuses to translate the stat boxes whose labels are always the same, and are actually incredibly plot relevant for an isekai stat box. There is also no redrawing or even block backgrounds to make text readable.

It's a pretty low effort work.

Really? Oh wow, I thought it was a different group altogether. Wasn't Rex saying he was looking for the Hero and with the Stat gaze he did on the party at the time determined that they weren't the heroes?

If its the result of a mistranslation and poor work, then that sucks.
