I really hope that at some point he will get a strong growth. (Or maybe he already has it: in case you didn't see, he never leveled up, so maybe there is a catch)

Yeah, that's pretty much it. It's already eroding his psyche. I won't say he's worried about nothing, that those good kids would understand, because, in the end, saying that would be just empty platitudes. He can't stand it, and least of all he couldn't stand the idea of the kids trying to stand it out of pity. He's already walking a thin rope by trying to supply them with the best gear and finding them the best opportunities to level up, while maintaining his senior adventurer status.

That being said, I do think he should come clean with them about the reality. And then they should go their separate ways. That would be a whole lot better than relying on lies and risking a separation full of regrets and other ill feelings. I guess the next best option would be to tell them that they are ready, shoo shoo, but he would need to do that immediately. Unless it's already too late. Who knows what will happen with that champion mofo.

If you remember, there is a way for him to reset his stats and do min maxing, back in ch.13

He need a partner of level 50. And he can't bring his "sister" cause when he reset/min maxing, the partner is gonna get a huge stats reduce.

He need the other kid in case he can't figure out a way to cheat the trial and have to sacrifice one of them.

To be honest, I only remembered vaguely that there was some trick left for him, but I didn't remember any of the details. However, since he hasn't gone for it yet, there had to be a catch. I very much doubt he would casually sacrifice any of the kids, at this point. Surely they have been through too much together and grown too close.
