MC is surprisingly chill about that chick and Amada indirectly murdering his family. You would think he would be less interested in appeasing them and more interested in bashing their heads with a metal bat or something.

Since this manga is one of my favorites right after Jinsei Gyakuten - Uwaki Sare, I figured I'd share a Summary of Light Novel Volume 1 & 2 here along with the LN illustrations. This manga gives off similar vibes to Jinsei but the karma hits way slower, like a proper slow burn. So yeah, Amada's still gonna be annoying all the way through Vol. 4 :haa:

I'll share Summary Light Novel Volume 1 here, WARNING : Please Don't Click if you Hate Spoiler.

Point: Have you read "Jinsei Gyakuten"? This one's got the same theme, turning your fate from bad to good, but with a revenge twist thrown in. The difference is the MC actually kills himself. His dad dies in an accident, his mom gets killed by the family of the kid his dad hit with the car, and his little sister dies getting hit by a car because she spaced out while crossing the street. The MC, who's lost his entire family, is just done with life after losing everyone who mattered to him, so he jumps off the roof of his school.
*Plot twist, turns out the female lead also kills herself after losing the MC, three days after his death.

Characters:
MC: Ishii Kazuki (his face looks like Nukumizu, I love him)
Female lead: Hidaka Mikoto
Fake protagonist: Amada Teruhito (has thought of himself as a romcom protagonist since he was a kid)
Amada's heroine #1: Ushimaki Fuuka
Amada's heroine #2: Iba Kouki (girl's a bitch honestly)
Amada's heroine #3: Kanie Kokoro
Other:
Support character: Tsukiyama Ouji
MC's sister: Ishii Yuzuki

★ Like it says up top, Kazuki loses his whole family, which crushes him so bad he ends up killing himself. When he wakes up, he's back in time to before his high school entrance ceremony.
(Quick rundown of why Kazuki killed himself. Kazuki's your typical background-character type, no standout traits, friends with another background guy who sits near him, Amada Teruhito. Amada likes his childhood friend Hidaka Mikoto, and since he's too shy to talk to her alone, he always drags Kazuki along. Except Amada isn't actually a background character, he's basically a romcom protagonist, because a bunch of pretty girls end up falling for him after he helps them with their problems. One of these heroines asks Kazuki for help getting closer to Amada, big mistake. At the school gym, in front of a bunch of students, Amada accuses Kazuki of forcing that heroine to do whatever he wants. She claims Kazuki took photos of her changing and made her do all kinds of things to satisfy him. Kazuki never did any of that, he was just trying to help her get close to Amada, but suddenly his phone is full of photos of her, so he can't even deny it. From then on the whole school bullies him, not just ignoring him but actual physical violence too. Amada's best friend Tsukiyama Ouji, whose family owns the company Kazuki's dad works for, tells his own father that Kazuki's a horrible person. Ouji's dad, who dotes on his son, immediately fires Kazuki's father. Kazuki's dad still believes in his son and goes looking for a new job, but the new place turns out to be a black company, over 50 hours a week. Worn out from overwork, he loses focus while driving and causes a huge accident that kills himself and a teenage girl. The Ishii family gets branded as murderers, and Kazuki's mom is killed by one of the victim's relatives. Kazuki and Yuzuki have to move into a run-down apartment since the family owes a massive settlement to the accident victims. Kazuki has to drop out of school to work and support them. Yuzuki wants to drop out too, but Kazuki won't let her, he wants her to stay in school and chase her dreams. Except that backfires too, Yuzuki also gets labeled part of a "murderer family" and gets bullied at her own school. Worn out from part-time work and the pressure at school, she spaces out on her way home from her job, gets hit by a car crossing the street, and dies. Having lost his entire family with nothing left to live for, Kazuki decides to kill himself at his old high school, partly as a "revenge" statement to everyone there. Right before he jumps, he sees Hidaka Mikoto trying to stop him, but it's already too late.)

★ After realizing he's actually gone back in time to before all this tragedy happened, Kazuki breaks down crying in front of his parents. This time he's determined to protect his whole family and stay far away from Amada's whole romcom thing. He's hoping to at least sit far from Amada in class, but just like last time, they end up with the same seat arrangement.
Amada tries to be friendly and befriend him, but Kazuki wants nothing to do with him.

★ Tsukiyama Ouji is the best-looking guy in class, and on top of that he's the son of a big-shot businessman, so tons of girls want to get close to him. But just like before, he's actually into Hidaka Mikoto. Every move he makes to get her attention gets shut down with cold indifference. Same as last time, he invites the whole class to a get-together to bond with everyone. Kazuki's already got an excuse ready to skip it, hoping Amada and Hidaka get close faster so he doesn't get dragged into their romcom. His excuse is a part-time job interview, and when Amada asks where, Kazuki just vaguely says it's at a convenience store near his place without giving the exact location. Surprisingly, Hidaka also turns down Tsukiyama's invite, saying she's just not interested. Tsukiyama can't push it since she's so cold toward him. He asks Kazuki for his Line contact so he can send party pics so Kazuki won't feel left out. Kazuki thinks he's just being thoughtful, but really it's just an excuse to get Hidaka's contact through him, and even that gets shut down.

★ At the job interview at the convenience store near his house, Kazuki's shocked to see Hidaka there too. Turns out she's interviewing at the same place, even though she lives way far from there.

★ Kazuki assumes Hidaka's working there because of someone she likes. He figures she wants to be close to Kazuki since she sits near Amada in class. So he tells her to just confess to her crush since apparently that guy likes her back too. Turns out the person Hidaka likes is Kazuki himself. She confesses and asks him out. Kazuki does have feelings for her, but honestly it's mostly just because she's pretty, so he can't accept the confession yet. Hidaka doesn't give up though and keeps chasing after him. (Side note, Hidaka's been stalking Kazuki this whole time, she actually found a way into his room that day specifically to confess to him there.)

★ For a week Kazuki keeps his distance from Amada, but his romcom moves way faster than expected. Amada's already won over three heroines. Kanie Kokoro falls for him when the whole class goes to Tsukiyama's house, she can't fit in with everyone but Amada helps her make friends, which does her in. Ushimaki Fuuka, on the way home from the store where Kazuki works, he forgets something at school and sees her practicing running alone, joins her practice, helps her get past her slump, and that's how she falls for him. Iba Kouki, while studying alone in the library, runs into Amada, who helps sort out her problems, and that's how she falls for him too.

★★ Skipping ahead since this is already super long, straight to the main revenge arc

★ Iba Kouki is the heroine who framed Kazuki last time, so he's honestly kind of scared to even talk to her now.

★ Kazuki's standing in class keeps getting worse since he's the only one who won't befriend Amada. Amada's heroines and Tsukiyama start pressuring him to change his attitude already. Kazuki realizes the real mastermind behind his bad luck last time wasn't actually Iba, she was just doing it to solve Amada's "problem." It was Amada pulling the strings the whole time, getting the heroines to move against Kazuki. Since everyone keeps nagging him to make a friend, Kazuki finally agrees, but instead of walking to Amada, he goes to Hidaka's desk. Everyone expects her to flat-out reject him, but instead she smiles and accepts. The whole class, including Amada, is stunned, and this is where Kazuki's revenge really kicks off.

★ Kazuki starts his revenge with Tsukiyama Ouji, since it was because of him that Kazuki's dad got fired and ended up in that fatal accident. Tsukiyama's got a short fuse, so when he tries to force Kazuki to befriend Amada, he loses it and grabs him by the collar. The class, who used to admire how nice and good-looking Tsukiyama was, now looks at him with disappointment. On top of that, Kazuki shows everyone Tsukiyama's empty promise about sending party photos so he wouldn't feel left out, all just an excuse to get Hidaka's contact. That's the end of Tsukiyama's "leader" status right there.

★ Second target is Kanie Kokoro. During a seat change, tiny Kanie claims she can't see the board from the back and asks to sit near Kazuki. She tries to get close to him, which makes the guys in class jealous he's the only one talking to a girl. Kazuki explains it's just a misunderstanding and asks them to step in whenever a girl besides Hidaka talks to him. When Kanie tries to invite him to eat lunch together, a bunch of guys barge into the conversation wanting in too. Kazuki turns her down, and since Kanie's too shy to say no, she ends up stuck eating with all those guys instead. This makes the girls in class turn on her, thinking she's secretly just flirting while acting all weak and innocent.

★ Third target is Ushimaki Fuuka. Leaving class, Kazuki gets cornered by her, she blames him for putting Kanie in that awkward spot surrounded by guys. He explains those guys were just helping clear up the misunderstanding about him only talking to girls. Ushimaki backs off since she realizes that wasn't really his fault. Turns out she was against Iba's plan from the start, she only went along with it for Amada's sake. After this, she and Iba get into a fight, and Ushimaki stops going after Amada.

★ The next target is the one Kazuki fears most, the girl who caused all the horrible stuff that happened to him last time, Iba Kouki. Together with Hidaka, who's basically a pro stalker at this point, they follow Amada to the gym. Iba's crying because her plan failed and she just had a fight with Ushimaki right in front of Amada, so he hugs her to comfort her. The plan was for Kazuki to "catch" them mid-hug, but Hidaka tells him to hide and goes to catch them herself instead. Amada, caught being all lovey-dovey with another girl right in front of the girl he actually likes, tries to explain it's just a misunderstanding. That comment ends up hurting Iba, and after that she stops chasing him too.

★ Just when it seems like everything's settled since none of the heroines are into Amada anymore, he suddenly stands up in front of the class and accuses Kazuki of blackmailing Ushimaki, the exact same accusation as before, except this time it's Ushimaki instead of Iba. Kazuki tries to deny it, and when they check his phone in his bag, sure enough it's loaded with nude photos of Ushimaki.
But this time Kazuki already knows Amada won't just give up after losing a heroine, so he's prepped a counter for this exact situation. The phone he hands over to Amada isn't actually his, it's Tsukiyama's, since Kazuki and Tsukiyama have gotten closer and agreed to swap bags at school that day. Kazuki then pulls out his real phone, not a single photo of Ushimaki on it.
Cornered, Amada tries to claim he had no idea what was really going on. Kazuki doesn't let it go, he calls out Amada's whole pattern, always asking others for help but acting completely uninvolved the second things go wrong. This leaves the heroines who sacrificed so much for him pale-faced and done believing in him. Amada even tries to get violent with Hidaka for exposing what he's been like since childhood in front of everyone, but Tsukiyama stops him in time. After that day, Amada stops coming to school, and his heroines end up getting shunned by their friends too.

Anyway, the MC does end up helping fix things for Amada's heroines later on. The class rep gets asked to help Kanie out, Tsukiyama gets close to Iba, and by pretending to corner Ushimaki in front of everyone, he gets her to apologize in tears, and one of the guys in class ends up helping her out.

★ A little bit of Hidaka Mikoto's backstory
She's the product of her dad's affair. At home she's raised by her stepmom and never gets any real love or attention. While playing at the park one day she meets Amada, but doesn't like him because his eyes are cold, just like her dad's. Then she meets Kazuki and Yuzuki, and Kazuki's kindness fills that lonely hole in her heart, that's when she falls for him. Amada, jealous seeing her getting close to someone else, snatches the bracelet Kazuki gave her. Hidaka tries to hold onto it and refuses to let go, but Amada punches her in the face hard enough to knock a tooth loose and rips the bracelet away by force. After that, Hidaka's terrified of him and ends up hating him. But Amada, convinced he's some kind of romcom protagonist, doesn't think it's a big deal and is sure she'll fall for him once they get to high school anyway.

He’s still investigating the true culprit at this point, Hidaka making the move is something unexpected but will come in useful in his future when he needs to figure everything out.

I'll share Summary Light Novel Volume 2 here, WARNING : Please Don't Click if you Hate Spoiler.

Characters:
MC: Ishii Kazuki
Female lead: Hidaka Mikoto
Bastard: Amada Teruhito (has thought of himself as a romcom protagonist since he was a kid)
Bastard's heroine 1: Ushimaki Fuuka
Bastard's heroine 2: Iba Kouki
Bastard's heroine 3: Kanie Kokoro
Bastard's heroine 4: Hitsujitani Miwa > Vtuber name: Hanatori Miyabi
Other:
Support character: Tsukiyama Ouji
MC's sister: Ishii Yuzuki
Heroine's friend: Kitami Sae

● Flashback to Kazuki's memories before the time leap. A new heroine joins Amada's harem, a transfer student who's secretly a Vtuber with over 1 million subs, Hitsujitani Miwa (Hanatori Miyabi). They get close after Amada helps solve a stalker problem Miwa's dealing with, roping in all the guys in class to help catch the guy. But the stalker issue doesn't end with just catching him, it spirals into figuring out who leaked Miwa's address and personal info to the stalker in the first place. After digging around with some "evidence," it points to Kitami Sae, a girl from another class who's also a Vtuber but only has 50 subs, supposedly out of jealousy toward Miwa (Miyabi). Because of the accusation, Sae ends up leaving school. Sae was the only real female friend Hidaka Mikoto had. Kazuki still remembers the cold, sad look on Hidaka's face after losing Sae.

★ Timeline after the time leap.
After what happened in volume 1, Amada stops coming to school. His heroines, all burned by him now, join Kazuki's circle instead. Except Kanie Kokoro, she makes her own little group with other girls and keeps her distance from guys. Iba Kouki joins Kazuki's circle because after her whole frame-up scheme against him got shut down, she's basically got nowhere left at school, everyone avoids her, but thanks to Kazuki she's still able to stay friends with Ouji at least. Same with Ushimaki Fuuka, at first her classmates avoid her too, but since Kazuki plays along as the "villain" for it, her classmates end up feeling bad for her and start being friendly again. Except then it backfires because of that photo she sent while changing, which was meant to trap Kazuki but ends up on Ouji's phone instead thanks to the counter-swap, and now everyone thinks Fuuka's an easy girl who'll sleep with anyone. In the end she still gets avoided by everyone else and only really has Kazuki's circle to hang out with.

★ A new transfer student changes everything. Miwa transfers to Kazuki's school, and her looks instantly grab the attention of every guy in class. Kazuki, who knows exactly what her stalker situation led to last time, remembers it's because of Miwa that he lost his whole family. She used her fame as a Vtuber to spread nasty rumors about him, getting his dad fired, his mom killed, his sister dead in an accident. Kazuki knows Miwa's going to look for someone to protect her from the stalker situation, and since Amada's not coming to school anymore, she's going to have to find someone else.

★ Miwa suddenly shows up at the convenience store where Kazuki and Mikoto work. They'd tried to steer her interest toward Ouji instead, but she ends up more drawn to Kazuki precisely because he shows zero interest in her. At first Kazuki thinks she's there looking for a protector for the stalker thing, but really she just wants to hear why Amada stopped coming to school. So Kazuki ends up telling her the whole story from the start, how Amada used girls' feelings to get closer to Mikoto, to the point where those girls ended up framing Kazuki. Even after hearing all that, Miwa still wants to stay by Amada's side and says she'll try to get him to come back to school. She also mentions she's actually Amada's childhood friend, they were in the same swim class once and he saved her back then. (Well, in reality Amada just showed up at the right moment to look like a hero, someone else did the actual saving.)

★ Miwa visits Amada's house to convince him to come back to school. Amada immediately assumes he's the romcom protagonist again since a new heroine's showing interest in him. He remembers Miwa as his childhood friend and figures she'll end up being one of his heroines too. He uses the fact that she's willing to do anything for him to set a trap for Kazuki and Mikoto. Amada tells her he's planning to transfer schools soon and wants her help getting Mikoto to transfer to the same school with him.

★ While Kazuki's out with his sister Yuzu and Mikoto shopping for cosmetics at a mall, he accidentally spots Miwa with an older guy. Kazuki recognizes the guy, it's the same stalker who got arrested by police in the previous timeline. When the stalker asks what's going on between Miwa and Kazuki, Kazuki just says they're classmates, which puts the guy at ease. He then takes Miwa off to continue shopping together.

★ Thanks to Miwa's invite, Amada comes back to school. First thing he does is apologize to Kazuki in front of the whole class, but Kazuki's not having any of it. With Amada back, Iba and Fuuka, who'd been hanging around Kazuki's circle, go right back to Amada's harem. Amada then begs the whole class to help deal with Miwa's stalker problem. The guys get hyped to help out given how popular and pretty Miwa is, all hoping for a chance to get closer to her, while the girls, scared of the stalker, don't volunteer at all.

★ Kazuki obviously wants nothing to do with any of it since he already knows it's all just an act by Miwa to get closer to Amada, playing the damsel in distress. Knowing that Sae was the one blamed for leaking Miwa's info to the stalker last time, Kazuki asks Mikoto to arrange for him to talk to Sae directly. Turns out there's no way Sae leaked anything, since she only just found out Miwa was actually Vtuber Miyabi, and she's actually a fan of Miyabi's.
This reminds Kazuki of that time he saw Miwa out shopping with her stalker. It's probably all a setup between Miwa and Amada, same as last time. Amada, wanting more alone time with Mikoto, has Miwa get rid of Sae by using her hardcore fan to frame her, making it look like Sae was the one selling her personal info to the stalker.

★ Since Kazuki knows Amada's planning to transfer schools and the whole stalker-hunt event is playing out the same way as before, he figures the real target this time isn't him, it's Mikoto. Amada wants Miwa to pin the info-leak on Mikoto so she gets forced out of school. Iba and Fuuka go up to Mikoto's desk and ask if she knew Miwa was actually Vtuber Miyabi. Mikoto honestly says yes, and that confirms for Kazuki that she's the target, since that answer can easily be twisted into an accusation against her.

★ Miwa keeps showing up at the store where Kazuki and Mikoto work. Kazuki keeps noticing a sketchy guy hanging around nearby, like he's watching Miwa. Kazuki figures Miwa's just waiting for a chance to catch Mikoto alone and make it look like she's taking money from the stalker, and it seems like Miwa's already got someone lined up to snap photos of Mikoto looking like she's making some kind of deal with him.

★ Kazuki uses this to turn the tables on Miwa and Amada. Once Mikoto's alone, a random guy approaches her offering money for her number. She turns him down of course, and a bit later Kazuki shows up next to her. By then Miwa, who'd been hiding nearby watching, is nowhere to be seen. (This is basically round one, Miwa and Amada's first loss.)

▼ Straight to the accusation scene
★ On the day Mikoto runs into the stalker, Kazuki decides that same day is going to be when this whole stalker mess finally gets resolved. He lies to Miwa about his work schedule and instead goes with Ouji to track down and catch the stalker. When Ouji spots the stalker approaching Miwa, Kazuki stops him from stepping in. The stalker gets close to Miwa, and Amada swoops in looking like the hero protecting his heroine. Seeing Miwa being "protected" by Amada sends the stalker into a rage, feeling betrayed since he thought Miwa was his and only his. He completely loses it and starts beating on Amada, punching his face over and over. Even with a bunch of guys from class nearby watching over Miwa, none of them dare step in out of fear. A bit later Ouji finally shows up and catches the guy.

1. First loss for Amada and Miwa. When Mikoto runs into the stalker and Kazuki shows up, Kazuki tells the guy straight up that Miwa's just been using him. Says he'll find out tomorrow who Miwa's actually into. Turns out this stalker had actually been helping run Miwa's livestreams this whole time, a super devoted fan who kept supporting her nonstop, even promised a date and a private ASMR session. When photos of Mikoto and the stalker get passed around to the guys who'd been helping Miwa, Mikoto denies everything and explains the guy just randomly showed up offering money and asking for her number. Kazuki backs her up too, pointing out this same guy showed up at their store the night before.

★ A few days after the stalker incident, Amada calls Kazuki and Mikoto over. He looks like he's got a plan this time and seems confident he's finally going to win.

★ Amada, Miwa, Iba, Fuuka, Mikoto, and Kazuki all gather in an empty classroom. Amada's side claims there's someone who leaked info to the stalker. Kazuki assumes this is already settled since Mikoto can prove she wasn't involved, but instead they pull out a photo of Yuzu with the stalker. Kazuki immediately loses it, insisting there's no way Yuzu has anything to do with him. Miwa, putting on a sad face, says it's all her fault for trying to get close to Kazuki, that Yuzu, who adores her brother, didn't want to lose him to anyone else and saw Miwa as a threat, so she supposedly leaked info to the stalker just to get rid of her. Amada, feeling like he's won this round, says he won't tell anyone about this so Yuzu doesn't get bullied at school, but in exchange he wants Kazuki to stay away from Mikoto. Kazuki's answer, no way, doesn't matter what Amada threatens him with.

2. Second loss for Amada.
Kazuki pulls out a photo of Miwa looking real cozy with her stalker and demands an explanation. Miwa, not wanting Amada to find out she's been getting close to another guy, panics and claims it's a photoshopped fake. But someone unexpected shuts that down, Fuuka. Turns out it was Fuuka who took that photo of Miwa and the stalker and sent it to Kazuki. Along with Iba, she'd only been pretending to rejoin Amada's harem this whole time. Both of them, still burned from what happened in volume 1, never actually forgave Amada and honestly can't stand him. Since his behavior's been sketchy ever since he came back to school, they fake their way back into his harem just so they can protect Kazuki and Mikoto, kind of as payback for what they put Kazuki through before. When Amada gets asked how he actually feels about Miwa, true to form, cornered as usual, he just dumps all the blame on her and admits he never had any real feelings for her at all. That line completely breaks Miwa's heart.

★ Something interesting happens near the end of volume 2. Iba Kouki has a nightmare, a flashback to the previous timeline. After she framed Kazuki and got him kicked out of school, she hears the news that both his parents died. Guilt starts eating at her and she tries to get Amada to go apologize to Kazuki with her, but it's already too late by the time she hears his sister died too, and then watches Kazuki kill himself right in front of her. She realizes she'd fallen for a genuinely awful, cruel guy.
When she wakes up, it's like she hears another version of herself telling her to protect Kazuki this time. Except now Iba's not just planning to protect him, she wants to make sure Kazuki and Mikoto actually get to live happy this time around.

▼ Next volume's gonna be a beach trip arc with Ouji, Kazuki, Mikoto, Fuuka, and Iba at the Tsukiyama family's villa. Full fan service arc, beach, bikinis!

A love confession? At this time of year? As early as chapter 2? In this economy?
I might be wrong but I think she likes him (or she's Canadian and is just being nice).

Hidaka.exe has stopped working.

I wonder if she really said father-in-law because the dad (and him) either pre-approves their future engagement or they really just don't care enough to bother.

Everything happened so fast.

Hidaka very aggressive here, she even called Ishii's father "father-in-law". But that also makes me curious why she didn't act like this in the first loop, or she just shy if she try to hit mob character like Ishii openly so outside school is okay for her I guess?

Going off the translations I read of the LN. the father-in-law is a bit of lost in translation stuff. MC calls his Dad "Tou-san" which is a casual, familial way to refer to your own Dad. She uses "Otou-san" (with quite a bit of force behind it, MC notes) which is the common form to be used when addressing someone else's Dad. She's trying to be close to her future father-in-law, so the TL went with that since as seen at the end of the chapter he is part of her endgame.

H-huh?

This was a good chapter but why was she calling him father in law like at all?? :questionblob:No reaction to it either is so weird. It doesn't seem like she remembers the first loop either so I wonder why she likes him so much in the first place.

Well this is only the 2nd ch so guess we'll have to see it play out:nyoron:
