they really don't help there case at all
also the beginning scene of the prince's looking at yaguu burning and were like i don't know why really show's how corrupt there country is for doing it and not even needing a reason at all
in all honestly i cant see how they think Shiki will ever agree to go to the council again even if he loves Ceska since that will just leads his people to there death and might even be him as well and going as far as deflecting how they were killing his people by saying this or that is worse in front of them all is honestly disgusting and show's the lack of any brain cell in the new generation of leaders or rather lack of it in there entire country if these are the people they choose to lead i know they think they are superior to them because of lua but now that it is gone they should use their head for once it is like the only one with a brain other than Ceska and Shiki is that guy Ratoseh (the guy who calls the prince a hypocrite ) though he seems to have a sort of a grudge or a secret he still keeps

The author understands prejudice so well.

"Who Knows". They just hate them for no reason, they've never done anything wrong. They're just poor, innocent animals who would never hurt a fly.

I dont think that prejudice works like that at all, not in real life at least. There is usually a specific fear attached to it.

In any case this manga is very thematically dense: its a novel adaptation?

Sometimes the hate can go on for so long people have forgotten the original reason for it. And it just ends up like "dwarves hate elves cause they're knife ears" or something

No, it's a manga original.

You're thinking of phobias.

Prejudice in real life starts from observing consistent patterns of behavior. Like being prejudiced against Wasps after being stung by them.

Then it spreads to other people when they see or hear about the Wasps second-hand. There might be a fear of being stung involved in that specific example, but it doesn't need to be there.

Anyways, all the different tribes in this manga chose to violently oppress the animal-hearing tribe for no reason at all.

In the chapters before it was stated that it's alluded to a time in history existing where humans and the nomads were equal but the princes brush it off quickly, we are probably witnessing generations after the wars and violence on the nomads where as you say people hate and berate them for no reason aside from "who knows"

In this story, the reason for their prejudice is religious, as alluded to in the prince's dialogue. Kind of like the mark of Ham being used to justify chattel slavery or any religion with women - doesn't have to be fear, it just needs to make life more convenient for people with more raw power and ability to enact violence

Maaaaan this is kinda an honest portrayal of how shitty elites can be. Even if you have a good heart, you're so blinded by your privileged position in life, one easily sweeps things under the rug, not fully understanding the historical/culture/emotional ramifications of being complicit to a racist pos.

I know it’s moreso a nothing burger in the grand scheme of things, but why does the Seramis Princess care so much about whether Cesca gets married with Shiki?
For the long haired Prince (Yumel?) it’s understandable because he has a crush on Cesca but for her it’s not clear?

I guess it could just be a simple case of arranged marriages in royalty and being restricted from making your own decisions which would make sense given she’s more out spoken. So she doesn’t want to see Cesca go through with a marriage she has no say in?

It could also just be her being used to being fawn over because of her beauty so Shiki not doing so pisses her off, but that would be a lame reason.

I’m just wondering out loud because she’s so vehemently opposed to it 🤔

I think it might also be that Ceska and Mendoza(?) are friends (or at the very least the Princess "allows" Ceska to be her friend) and roommates. In one of the previous chapters, when Ceska is thinking about being friends with Shiki, the Princess comes down from the bed above Ceska's, so it seems they live together in the dorm.
