@supug I'd say it will go too far, but, really, it's already gone too far. This is just another variation of that well worn, clichéd storytelling of exploring the 3rd wheel's backstory and giving him a tremendous amount of character development while the FMC spends more time with him instead of the MC, whose backstory is typically not explored and who gets little or no character development over the entire series, and who gets about a quarter the screen time, if that, of the 3rd wheel.
ya hakamada's story isn't that special or interesting. please develop the main boy some more & post haste (least i hope it does). i'm more interested in seeing mc actually working towards creating her own goals n shit
Funny, I peeked at the comments before I read the chapter and I thought the whole chapter was going to be about Hakamada-kun. Turned out it was, I dunno, maybe a quarter (and he doesn't appear in person at all).
@purplelibraryguy Yeah, most of this chapter was in fact about the male romantic lead and his feelings of personal inadequacy. I think that is pretty good character development, really. But I read the comments first, too, and I expected Hakamada to be everywhere.
Most of the characters have had more than adequate exploration, character-wise, so I don't know why this arc is causing upset. *shrug*
Think of it like this. It’s not baseball-kun but the “what’s the point of it” that she can relate to hard. It’s obvious who she’s actually interested in.
