Okay, so he's betrayed by one of his human allies that crafts a weapon to pierce through his armor (his daughter's little chunk of armor she keeps in her box is from that wound). There's an alliance between humans and dragons that sees him as a threat to their balance. The dude is bonkers powerful...like he comes off as bragging, but he's absolutely NOT. He is no joke a human atomic bomb. There's a whole plotline revolving around dragons giving heartscales to humans to try to make them immortal. Turns out his teacher/adopted dad was also a human that fell in love with a dragon(a water dragon) and gets stabbed later in the story. When he gets his dying body to her, she throws away her family and entire royal line and gives up her heart scale. Seeing what happens to her, how they describe it, and all of the shit that's happened with Roseweis at that point he puts it together and confronts her. It's less impactful than it could have been, especially when compared to pinky's birth.
When pinky is born, a big bad dragon attacks because roseweis is unable to fight 1) because childbirth and 2) because heart scale. She watches out her window as her nation and friends are dying. Dragons that are attacking in large part because of Leon...that AND his daughters. (dragons have extremely low birthrates and Leon/roseweis are basically 3 for 2 without magical contraception.) Leon uses his birthday gift for her as a weapon to show that they were betrayed and starts plotting how to get his wife and daughters out of the kingdom. Everyone is terrified and says, "no one can kill uberdragon." to which Roseweis mutters with tears, "dragonslayer. Isn't there someone like that here?" Leon goes quiet and steps up to her. She apologizes and asks him to save their family. He doesn't even nod. He just goes to get his armor. Whereby he MURDERS the ever living fuck out of an entire dragon army. Her people, who literally thought he was just a spoiled dandy too weak to turn into a dragon form, and his kids who thought he was just a kind silly daddy get absolutely shit scared watching him kill EVERYTHING. It's a huge scene because it's one of the first ones where their games come to an absolute halt and they are really honest with each other. There's a great part where everyone is fucking SHOOK and she's smiling while crying and just FUCKING PROUD of how deadly he is. You start to get the idea that she loved him at first sight. Later when you meet his college crush you realize that Roseweis is HIS type. To which she gets SUPER pissed that there was ever anyone in his life before and starts plotting murder.
It's funny to me, because this entire series could EASILY have been a pornhwa. It's really wholesome all things considered.
