Vasqueztion. You may not be as far off as you think.
Maybe it’s me but I have a feeling that this guy will end up with a serious case of he who fights monsters. Look at the initial chapter as one of the commenters said, it looks like he’s holding back a lot of rage but fears conflict. Maybe what he fears is own inner rage? This makes more sense when you look at the ring that’s his symbol. That’s not a lizard. That’s the ouroboros, the snake swallowing it’s own tale, commonly associated with DRAGONS! Also remember how he refused to eat liver in the first chapter? On a hunch I searched the internet to see if there are any stories associated with dragons AND livers. Turns out there’s a Korean one called the Hare’s liver. It’s about a DRAGON KING that will die if he doesn’t eat the liver of a hare.
Only problem is that since the Dragon King lived under water there were no hares there. The Dragon King’s servant the Turtle goes and finds a hare and tricks it into comming to the palace. But when it finds out that the Dragon King wants to eat his liver he tricks the Dragon king into thinking that he left it back home and gets away. The moral is more or less what goes around comes around. What’s more let’s go back to Chapter 0, a man is told that unless he sacrifices a “maiden” the land will be destroyed, he yells to “find one.” Maybe I am reading to much into things but what if that’s an older version of Arc?
Also two more things to note: One the end of this chapter hints of deal with a devil.
And two: Page 4 of chapter 2 has the lines “is this a real or a dream” on it. Maybe it’s me, but this reminds me of the opening lines of the Queen song Bohemian Rhapsody. “Is this real life, or is this just fantasy.”
For those of you who want the whole list of lyrics to the song they are:
Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
No escape from reality
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go
A little high, little low
Anyway the wind blows, doesn't really matter to me, to me
Mama, just killed a man
Put a gun against his head
Pulled my trigger, now he's dead
Mama, life had just begun
But now I've gone and thrown it all away
Mama, ooo
Didn't mean to make you cry
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on, as if nothing really matters
Too late, my time has come
Sends shivers down my spine
Body's aching all the time
Goodbye everybody I've got to go
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth
Mama, ooo (anyway the wind blows)
I don't want to die
I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all
I see a little silhouetto of a man
Scaramouch, scaramouch will you do the fandango
Thunderbolt and lightning very very frightening me
Gallileo, Gallileo,
Gallileo, Gallileo,
Gallileo Figaro - magnifico
But I'm just a poor boy and nobody loves me
He's just a poor boy from a poor family
Spare him his life from this monstrosity
Easy come easy go will you let me go
Bismillah! No we will not let you go - let him go
Bismillah! We will not let you go - let him go
Bismillah! We will not let you go let me go
Will not let you go let me go (never)
Never let you go let me go
Never let me go ooo
No, no, no, no, no, no, no
Oh mama mia, mama mia, mama mia let me go
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me
For me
For me
So you think you can stop me and spit in my eye
So you think you can love me and leave me to die
Oh baby can't do this to me baby
Just gotta get out just gotta get right outta here
Ooh yeah, ooh yeah
Nothing really matters
Anyone can see
Nothing really matters nothing really matters to me
Anyway the wind blows
...So yeah. Make if that what you will.
