I'd ask why the most boring round is getting the most chapters but it's obvious why.

You can't say that yet, though. The current fight started in chapter 86, so it's currently 9 chapters long (if we count 91 and 91.2 as 2 separate chapters). If we count next chapter (since the fight hasn't ended yet), then the current fight is at least 10 chapters long. We can ignore 88.5, since it's only 5 pages and therefore doesn't count as a chapter, which are typically around 30-50 pages.

According to the fandom, half the fights lasted longer.

1. Thor vs. Lü Bu: 7 chapters
2. Zeus vs. Adam: 7 chapters
3. Poseidon vs. Kojiro Sasaki: 8 chapters
4. Heracles vs. Jack the Ripper: 11 chapters
5. Shiva vs. Raiden Tameemon: 12 chapters
6. Zerofuku/Hajun vs. Buddha: 12 chapters
7. Hades vs. Qin Shi Huang: 11 chapters
8. Beelzebub vs. Nikola Tesla: 12 chapters
9. Apollo vs. Leonidas: 7 chapters

So while it's possible for this fight to be the longest, it's currently one of the shorter ones.

So this is a best of 13 tournament, whichever side gets 7 wins first is the winner. Humans currently have 5 losses (Lu Bu, Adam, Raiden, Tesla, Leonidas) so they lose 2 more times and this is finished. Unless they decide to scrap it and make it a battle royale. I'm thinking they're going to do something different simply because Simo Hayha is a sniper and wouldn't do well in a fighting tournament.

Simo will probably be all about stealth shots and keeping a distance in a themed arena (Like Jack's arena)
The guy went unnoticed by sniper hunters and survived air strikes, I'd trust him to fight a God.

yeah, still hard to get invested in this fight, especially when we already had a much better samurai earlier in the tournament, who also had the gimmick of "unfulfilled potential".

I think samurais and "unfulfilled potential" are very popular themes that resonate with the author and his main audience. That's the only way this development makes sense to me.

Honestly the problem for me is three fold, the fact that we have seen too many swordsman, it's obviously just dragging because of the japanese aspect and because the author kinda wrote themselves into a corner as to what could actually happen. Most likely scenario is a human win or draw

it's amazing how this whole sequence leave no impact while Rosen Garten Saga just had this exact fight complete with the whole "all of my possibilities" bullcrap and managed to pull the hardest chapter in modern tournament manga history despite everything revolving around dicks and tits
