The build up was great but the ending is kinda sudden.

This tournament has to be interrupted, have at least some fighters survive, or Indra wins it all. Because we have seen him a few times in the main series, which comes after this.
I don't love the premise on this overall, because we also know that anyone who wants to cancel Ragnarok can't win. This being a prequel instead of totally alternate timeline really limits things.

Actually the fighters don't die when they lose, I know it sounds insane when looking at their injuries but it would be insane in-universe wise for the gods to lift the rule on them killing each other and also we have seen their insane healing technology with them being able to regenerate all three of shiva's limbs within a day. Another thing, this takes place during ragnarok not before.
