This chapter and the previous one when the explosion happened still pisses me off.

NONE of the adults are telling her that her PARENTS, a DOCTOR and nurse, should be taking her to a WARZONE. Let alone be somewhere close to a bunch of hidden mines . . . instead of a safe zone, and like actually inform her to be careful of traps. None of that makes sense at all.

Pilse is a lot stronger than I thought. I thought this chapter would've been them trying to run away, not fight the big bad.

Was 'it do be like that' meant to be 'funny' during what is a pretty emotional moment, or just a typo?
No, she probably said 'shoganai' and 'it do be like that' is a good translation that won't sound as stiff as 'it can't be helped'. The point is that she's acknowledging that nothing can be done and things are the way they are. 'It is like that' or 'it is what it is' would both sound a bit stiff for an emotional moment.

"That's just the way it is". "It do be like that" is a weird memetic phrase that doesn't at all line up with black's character, she speaks very grammatically proper.

When I first started reading this series, I was wondering why Shy's hero outfit (standard superhero spandex suit and cape) was so different from Spirit's (stereotypical Russian clothes) or Stardust's (British Rockstar). It's interesting to see that the pop-culture superhero outfit is popular among the "young" generation of heroes (Shine, Shy, Pilse), whereas the older ones prefer cultural dress (the pre-Shine Japanese hero, the pre-Pilse witch hero Hexen) or their own thing (La Toile).
