If with only 1 yes, it can be said one.
Date English version and Japanese is different. Date in English meant having a hang out with romantic partner or so, in Japanese it could just be hanging out with friends/family without any romantic feelings.

Japanese has a big context for their words so it's not surprising if some words have more than 1 context.

I think the word Date also used alot in anime/manga even there's no romance between the characters.
