I guess this is the problem with bringing up moral dilemmas to such an optimistic story (and moral dilemmas in general I guess). It's never really a dilemma when the possibility to just ignore it is present and preferable. I'm not even sad that this is how it turned out, it's just that it added nothing to the story or the characters, since they had the answer from the beginning.
