I'm not following this story that closely, but I can also see a possibility of by having someone on the run, eyes will be after it instead of questioning the brother. He could want him to run, so people don't think he was the one behind it.

Dad isn't dead he is the viscount he wanted Moris to be the viscount after he died but Moris said no so he doesn't want want to leave any loose ends

Correct Moris redirected his strike into the snow because he didn't want to kill him. Also his brother dropped him a bag of coins, half out of fright, and told the rest of the (I assume knights) viscounts men that moris wasn't there and they should look elsewhere

I'm afraid the only other way Sigrid would realise that someone is trying to flirt with her, would be if someone told her "Hello, I want to flirt with you. I will now proceed with the flirting. [Insert compliment] That right now was me flirting with you."...

It is very clear that all this "relationship" stuff doesn't come naturally to her.
