Bit by bit, learning how to braid her hair properly.

"Diagrams! Designs!"
Some of her favourite means of using numbers.

"I wish there were advanced mathematics."
She's kill in that class.

Honestly, music could fit her. She could probably figure out some formulas for how notes go together.

Someone tells him he's good. He immediately apologises for being terrible. Must've been around Monica too much.

She could make an excuse for studying theoretical magecraft, without actually putting it into practice herself.

She should study engineering. That's ladylike, right?

Of course the real answer is whatever the guy she's bodyguarding is doing.

Anyway, hope we see chapter 13 before chapter 15.

I hadn't realised until reading the chapters by this new group that the received pronunciation formal style of the language from before was making this series s bit hard for me to read- catching up was a breeze which was such a nice surprise.

The build up of MC building positive relationships with her peers is making me more excited for when they find out who she is C:

Thanks for the tl!

Yeah but official TL did the same thing, so this re-translation is a bit pointless now

As always: Official translations may well not be available/affordable for many people.
Nor is it possible to even buy a fraction of the manga people follow generally. Unless you're a Rich Kid waving Daddy's Credit Card.
And that's not even touching the bit where Official Translations can be ...not much better.. than lightly cleaned AI output.

So even if there's an official translation, it is still worthwhile for scanlation groups to do their own translating, because they're serving a market for which that official translation is ... irrelevant.

Honestly interesting that a girl so in love with patterns and numbers would not have interest in learning a musical instrument given that music is just following patterns.

Could be an oversight from the author, we never know.

[...] formerly a professor emeritus at [...] (p.4)
I don't know what the raws say, but shouldn't this either be "formerly a professor" or "a professor emeritus"? Afaik, the honorary title of emeritus/emerita generally isn't revoked after being granted to a retired professor of certain rank.
It made me read it as if there was some huge unspecified scandal that forced them to revoke it.

I'd have translated that line as follows:

"Professor McLegan is a professor emeritus at Minerva, the mage training institution!"

Actually, a more literal translation would be this:

"Professor McLegan was serving as an honorary professor at Minerva, the mage training institution!"

The term in question is 名誉教授 (meiyo kyouju) in Japanese, which literally means "honorary professor," a position that he had been granted in the past and continues to hold. This is indicated in the past progressive verb 務めていた (tsumete ita), which means "was serving" or "had been serving." The literal translation is cumbersome, whereas the one that I suggested sounds smoother.

As for the old professor's name, it's マクレガン (makuregan) in the raws. The "r" sound in Japanese is actually halfway between "r" and "l" and is difficult to pronounce properly for non-natives. I'd translate that as "McLegan," but that's just my personal preference.

The part about him being referred to as a high mage puzzles me though. That wasn't in the raws.

That said, I know only too well how difficult it is to translate a chapter. I'm just glad I get to sit back and read one of my favorite manga.

You really think I meant paying for it? lmao
The official TL for this series if fine, though very different from what the previous group was doing, meanwhile what the current group is doing is not all that different
