This was indeed a very old tier in the past that I no longer maintained (and, to an extend, the only person subbed to it even translate to us). But in the event that it isn't clear to you: The "just for you" part simply means I answered to the request personally, it doesn't mean it is paywalled.

As proof, here's an old title that I translated the last 3 chapters upon request of an old friend who subbed to that tier age ago. They are available on MD (as of now), feel free to check it out before it's DMCA'd

While we're at this, someone did sub the $10 tier and "suggested" Sengoku Stray to me, which I also scanlated one chapter before the previous group came asking for it back, prompting me to stop. Also still on MD:

I still can't believe people get scammed into supporting ESL retranslations and MTL. And that patreon scannies have no shame asking for money for that.

so mangadex is done? it's just a matter of time now? why host it in a place that has to comply with DMCA in the first place? that the site is still up with the new copyright policy at all is also concerning. feels like a trap, like they've been subpoenaed to collect and preserve all this data. something fucky-wucky is going on.

The suspicion is that the industry is going to sue and put down mangadex regardless if they comply to the DMCA requests or not to send a message. They’ve been planning this for almost a year apparently, and already then they had prepared a local law firm to handle it.
They don’t care if the whole thing backfires on them, they’re doing it out of principle. Kakao lost significant sales and dropped like 40 percent in share value because of their actions last year, and they’re still at it.

you log into MD on Neko and press the import button

I've tried this method as it was suggested in a previous post but unfortunately it doesn't import my library completely.
To make a more specific example, on MD's library I currently have:

  • Reading: 128 titles
  • Plan to Read: 150 titles
  • Completed: 168 titles
(and 1 Dropped)

After I logged-in from Neko app and try to import MD's library, the app asked me which reading status I want to import the titles from and even after I checked every box, it still imported like 190-ish titles only, in total, with random status (picking some from completed, some from plan to read, etc.) I deleted the backup and tried several times but with the same result.

So yeah, you can save something but not everything I guess...

fun fact: crunchyroll used to be just like mangadex, but for anime.
yep, they sold out and used the other groups fansub works at the time to springboard their site traffic, then proceeded to take everything down and started making money off it. And as expected from the end outcome of sellouts it now fucking sucks.

I also remember it was around the time of the whole narutofan debacle with them selling other groups fansubs and scanlations.
