The concept is unique and somewhat interesting. However I despise anything that messes directly with the mind without permission. Especially in a harmful way. So not gonna read further.

Just remember not to fight Allah alone when you astral project, he is too powerful to take on without backup.

This was one of the last of kagos works to be read by me…
it has much more of a linearity than his other books. Ironic, saying such a thing, considering the subject matter.
however i feel this blends the despair of grade school from Boogiepop Phantom with the mystery/technology elements and broad scope of Serial Experiments Lain.
I love the amount of work the author put into showing the consciousness representations, even focusing on their battles like something seen in a cartoon.
The fact that the concepts are very abstract gives each reader plenty of interpretationAl leeway when picturing the story, while it’s hard enough to grasp to feel like a very cerebral novel. Though , I feel at its core, is ultimately pure feeling.

It was a joy seeing a young Detective from kagos traveling detective series. It makes me wounder if his sidekick isnt a grown up (the main character, Asian names are very tough for me). both due to their resemblance, but also due to her space nature And slight capacity for the macabre . (Like when she rescues the detective from prison by making half dozen guards commit suicide, for instance)

I found kago brings up the standard detective idea of “a killer trying to hide their motive and not be caught“ entertaining and completely believable.
with the inplication that the zodiac killer started out as a guy just trying to hide 1 specific murder in a series of “made up patterns”, while sandwiching it between a few unrelated murders. The likeliest answer, btw, seems to me that two serial killers found each other and one wrote letters for the others victims to help throw off the cops.
this was, overall, an excellent story that easily warrants its own series, especially now when the more graphic and sexual scenes may actually survive the cut.
Again, I feel it ironic that compared to kago s other books, this is one of the “least graphic and sexual “, therefore most likely to be translated by a big publisher.
Iam very greatful to have saved this book for last, especially after reading the wandering detective and renpo amnesia books.
