@justforthelulz The "award" is basically a contest for newbie/indie artists to submit their work to the magazine and the best one gets published. It's not like a national award or anything ;)

@justforthelulz I think the term isn't clearly defined, so people use it whenever they see the word "award". I'd argue that rookie contests shouldn't get the tag. It should be restricted to winners of the large annual awards. But those awards aren't typically well known, and editorial "award winner" text gets plastered on lots of oneshots. So users will continue to tag things as they like ;)

I'm with you there. It's like whenever I see a restaurant got voted "Top 10 in (Large City)", which sounds impressive at first,
but then you read the fine print says it's from some hyper-niche magazine with an obvious built-in bias due to a smaller sample size.
