the slime is controlling the meatbag through the blood, the bone marrow would be actively opposing the slime as both a foreign substance and just trying to make more blood. the brain is also dead and replaced by the slime. we tend to think of the brain as a hemogenous lump but the majority of the cranial cavity is taken on by nerves, not brain.
The brain is nerves, no? The slime has to be interfacing with the nervous system somehow. It can also taste, see, hear, smell, feel, etc, through the body. The brain is what interprets those signals.

I just think it'd be a lot easier to take over the controls (the brain) rather than eating the controls and then rebuilding them...

Is there anywhere that it mentions completely replacing the brain?

the brain is a thin sheet folded carefully to pack into the available volume over a fractal of nerve cords. Further as a fully dead organ its not useful to the meatbag once the memory is fully read onto the slime and is actually obstructing interface with the nerves.

it hasnt said anything specifically, but the Slime already completely replaced the bloodstream and did alot more to take over the corpse when it passed out between restarting the heart and waking up.

Oh no, wild canines attack. At least there's no water nearby so jelly doesn't have to worry about hitting a stage fatality on one of them.

Thanks for the chapter.

The typical manga plot made to make the readers think "just leave them to die for once!" only for the MC to do the same thing they ALWAYS do and save them and befriend them through some bullshit repentence/"I understand why you did it" drama...
Author crossing out the mandated trope situations already, doesn't bode well for future plot.
Would be nice with some manga where the plot stays interesting even after the first 20 pages. With chapters like this it's just "I hope there wont be too many filler chapters" and you read just one more chapter, and one more chapter...
I suppose since we're so deep in trope, you can explain to us the rest of this arc then, even before the next few chapters come out.

I mean, you're so astute, you even spotted that the author initially tried to hide that trope by making it seem they were people the MC would leave behind! I'm sure the rest of us had no idea...we were all taken in by the author's double blind attempt to make them appear like innocent people worth saving....

Jokes aside, maybe you should reconsider what's the problem here, the manga or your proclivities. It doesn't say "mystery" on the genre tag, and most manga is character-centric anyway, "plot" is just a tool for that. You predict you'll be inundated with "filler" but nobody's forcing you to read something you clearly expect to be bored with. I think most other people here know what the appeal points of this manga are supposed to be, avoiding tropes isn't one of them.

Which brings up another interesting point. Why did you feel the need to "invent" an element to amplify your disappointment in the author for resorting to said trope?

That out of the way, being reminded of Jelly's strength makes me wonder if it works the other way. Does having a brain to use, so to speak, increase the slime's ability to think? Her thoughts are still distinctly inhuman, but I feel like she's gotten much smarter and sharper. It doesn't just seem like the experience she's gaining along the way serving as learning material.

"Why don't you work properly instead of doing this?"

"This is why I can't stand nobles, you understand nothing!"

He better apologize to all upstanding citizen out there who is hard at work to provide for their families.
Tbf even tho there's not in the slums and such, i can imagine that they nobles are probably screwing them over in taxes or them not being paid enough with 'proper work/job' or the particular lord being a tyrant

Black haired saint is lazy saint and loli is tsundere. I wonder if more saints will be introduced.
I imagine there's at least 7? maybe we'll see a 'male' saint unless they all have to be female for some reason

or some "new" saint that's just recently born/'awakened' bc OG Jelly was dead and despite the 'memories' (before the hooded man 'wipe'), there's not really her voice talking to Slime-chan or some 'compulsion' to do sadistic things so her 'soul' is
probably gone (although other than a 'goddess' interfering, there hasn't rly been anything to imply that a 'new' saint would pop up if a previous saint does pass away)

I would wager not, given that Jelly appears to be able to use the Saint's power. Guess it's a function of their bodies, not anything as intangible as their thoughts or "soul". As far as that's concerned, I don't think whatever governs these things considers her to be dead.

Yeah, it's pretty obvious that's not what's happening here. I mean they basically spelled it out for you that these aren't real bandits. I place my bet that other saint hired them.

I think Slime chan only mentioned replacing the blood/imitating it and forcing Jelly's body to spit out the poison or so, but i don't think it'd go in depth into the science behind it and all, tho that would be fascinating (wasn't there an isekai where MC was a germ or bacteria?)

I like how Jelly’s actually pretty intelligent despite still learning about humans and society

Kidnapped by some clueless, wannabe bandit noobs... wasn't expecting that but it was amusing. Clearly hired by someone to do something they've never done before. Now who could've done that... ahem. They're never catching our jelly-brained saintess though. She's got jobs to do.
