He was basically selfish/inferior till the end, in that he wanted to prove his superiority rather than being a researcher that leaves knowledge behind, or a father that does whatever to save his daughter..... Though, I guess he was a superior human(modern), with their pride and such.

No, he didn't put everything at stake for his daughter, did the MC read the same story as me? They literaly could have sealed it, cured her illness and had the girl have a power boost without any fight but he threw it all because he wanted to use his inferior version out of some shitty ego trip.

Also the girl basicaly went 'I'm a shitty piece of shit failure's daughter, who could protect neither me nor himself! That mean I'll be fine!' with pride like that make any sense.
