It absolutely is, but it's "for the drama", so it's excused. Unfortunately, fiction, especially comics/manga tend to use lots of physical actions to convey the mood/tone.

I think it's on you to take that seriously or not.
Just like many het romances, many BL or GL titles don't represent reality, and that's totally fine. People like to explore darker topics in fiction, it's fine to be uncomfortable with that too.
But if those types of situations make you that emotional, I suggest sticking to reading manga aimed at pre-teens. They're very wholesome and safe.

I think you’re misunderstanding my question, the reason for it, and the tone.

I’m not a man, and do not even find men attractive, so I wanted to know if getting rough with your partner was a thing considered forgivable in such relationships.

I’m a 42 year old, married woman with an 11yo child. I can handle serious, intense fiction. This just seems like they’re gonna get back together and that’s mildly fucked. It would be very fucked if real.

Oh man that sucks. Hurting your partner like that because of your own insecurities. That's the absolute worst when someone who's supposed to be so close to you doesn't even see you as a three dimensional human being with your own struggles and also hard-earned skills. As was said in the chapter, everyone chooses their path. Own it.
Honestly that's a pretty bad fight to come back from, hard to imagine how one would reconcile soon...
