SMASH 6 speculation, roster dreams

This thread is for discussing the next potential Smash game. This involves new characters, characters we think might get cut, reworks, when it will release, and how much it will cost.

A good place to start is this thought: after Smash Ultimate, the franchise can't just do another "everyone is here". I think they should, instead of trying to cover all of Smash's rosters, try to cover as broad of a celebration of Video Games as possible.
And that characters that haven't seen major reworks will be reworked from the ground up.

I will follow up on this, but the roster will DEFINITELY need to be cut to accomplish this.

Three characters that Nintendo could easily add that would probably have "break the internet" levels of hype:

Sans as a full character - if his presence as a Mii Brawler was enough for insane freakouts, imagine him as a full fledged fighter. With Steve now in as the first indie (sort of) rep, there aren't many indie franchises more recognizable than Undertale.

Master Chief - ok ok. I know Microsoft isn't doing well right now. But Master Chief is still an immensely popular character that Nintendo could easily add given their decent partnership with Microsoft recently. They were able to get Steve... So Master Chief is still possible.

Waluigi - this is such a freebie but i think they're intentionally not doing it because it's jumping the shark. He will be the perennial "never getting in" character. But he could definitely break the internet if he got in.

Harder picks that would break the internet but be tough to justify

Lara Croft - Iconic character and probably one of the only female characters that is enough of a gaming legend to be considered at the same level as many Smash reps. Her ownership struggles have made any attempt to get her in pretty hard.

Chelle or Gordon Freeman - A Valve rep would be insane for Smash. They previously released the Portal collection on Switch, but because of the Steam Deck it's doubtful Nintendo will ever collaborate with them in the near future.

Crash Bandicoot - this guy is like the only "console mascot" character I feel that would be completely at home in Smash Bros that isn't in yet. There's no shortage of good tracks, moveset potential, or hype for this guy. He'll never get in because... Well, of course not. Crash games have gotten ports on Switch, though.

A Fortnite Rep (probably Jonesy with Peely, Cuddle Squad Leader alts) - Fortnite is the ultimate crossover game. But this collab would probably never happen because Fortnite is... Well Fortnite.

Rayman - stuck in remake hell.

Freddy Fazbear - would never happen but would be pretty funny.

Gex the Gecko - would never happen but would be literally the funniest thing ever.

this will definitely never happen because sony but ratchet & clank would make for a interesting moveset with series's weapon variety
sony has so many cool ass characters that would make awesome smash fighters.
imagine kratos or parappa in smash. i hate that these companies will never get along :angery: :qq:

also adding that Dante (DMC) should be made a full character. And I think for next Smash, they'll have a character based on that new DuskBloods game.

Gameplaywise, I am kinda of the belief that the pvp part is a solved thing. Like, they can work on optimizing some characters (like updating link and using young link for the classic one, while also giving Ganondorf a unique playstyle that better reflects him), adding new ones and also adding more stages or item effects, maybe some gimmicks, but great changes are unlikely. Instead, I would expect maybe to revisit the subspace emissary and giving the game a better developed story mode or other side content.

I think they'll find a new way to innovate the combat. Ultimate wasn't the same as Sm4sh, which wasn't the same as Brawl, which wasn't the same as Melee.
They'll add some new mechanics.

I agree wholeheartedly on updating Ganondorf, but I think they'll cut the roster down significantly.

My roster with cuts.

Honestly, you could get rid of Pit, Little Mac, and if there were no restrictions on the original 12, I imagine Fox, Ness, Captain Falcon, and Jigglypuff would be out aswell.
Notes:
I chose Isabelle over Villager because she is more recognizable than Villager.
I struggled with keeping Ike or keeping Robin, since Robin has the more unique playstyle. Could go either way.
Same with Zero Suit vs Ridley
I tried to keep every third party in-tact because I believe the next roster will shift from a celebration of Nintendo primarily to a celebration of all Video Games. Banjo had to go though, because he has literally no relevance nowadays.
I imagine the remaining slots of the base game in this roster (probably 10 or 15 characters?) would all be from new series that don't have reps in the game yet.

My 15 new reps:
Gordon Freeman (Portal)
Lara Croft (Tomb Raider)
Dante (DMC)
Leon (R:E)
Kiryu (Yakuza)
Nathan Drake (Uncharted)
Rabbids (depends on how Ubi is feeling, hopefully Rayman instead)
Bomberman (Bomberman)
Master Chief (Halo)
Kratos (God of War)
Sackboy (Little Big Planet)
Crash Bandicoot (Crash Bandicoot)
Doom Guy/Slayer (Doom)
Arthur Morgan (Red Dead 2)
Sans (Undertale)

Great Shinobi Owl from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Why Owl and not Sekiro himself? I think that Owls moveset would be able to not have elements that would feel rehashed from other characters. I would also like a more trickster character while also being as heavy as Ridley (Not in the heavyweight tier but close to it) as a way to distinguish Owl from Sheik.

Edit: For the first three stocks he can say the lines that you hear when you die to him three times during his fight

Interesting. Would you say he's more popular than anyone on the list I gave?
