Oh I love them sooo much, thank you !! Former colleague, house boy but not lover ? Come on !

So the brother wasn't a jerk, I love how the author describes the siblings relationship, it feels realistic and bittersweet.

Haha, I’m not sure that Azuma’s moved past his denial to be ready for that title yet 😂
Kuji’s father has a lot to answer for. I’m glad we got to understand his bro a bit better, poor dude’s just trying to process his childhood and do better by his family in his own way.

Am so curious if the notes on translation effect how the scan group thinks about/does translation.

And agree, so love how this chapter brought more depth to the brother.

Hi, scanlator here 👋
I also really enjoy the notes, but they do have limited applicability as they’re focused on English-to-Japanese translation, whereas Japanese-to-English has its own challenges (as does translating manga vs. literature/ text).

But here are two things I’ve taken from Kuji Sr:
  • Avoiding overly localised words/ phrases (#6, Ch8 - less so the “Japaneseness” given the setting, but rather expressions particular to a certain variant of English (e.g. Australian, American) in favour of more globally-understood terms)
  • Avoiding translation notes (#9, Ch12 - because I don’t want my mistakes to cover me in shame 😂)

Still in denial but 200% whipped for Kuji 😌

Besides liking it b/c it's good, I also love that it's the (rare) manga where the characters are close to my age and also way too relatable.
Oh, I feel you on the age/ relatability! Azuma’s career burnout etc. was another reason I really wanted to see this series continued - glad that it resonates with someone else too 🙂
