Ugh, I can't believe Kiki is getting engaged to someone else..... The Mitsuhide rejection on top of the fact that Shirayuki and Zen have been separated for so long makes me not want to read this anymore. The author keeps making bad decision after bad decision. Let's hope that Mitsuhide realizes his mistake soon.

Mitsuhide's decision would be easier to stomach if his reason wasn't such bullshit. Like if he had someone else he loves (not Zen) or plans and ambitions of his own that wouldn't allow getting together with Kiki. But his reason is actually that he doesn't believe in Zen managing to survive without the mighty Mitsuhide's help, so he needs to forever hang around Zen, not making any progress in his own personal life at all, even when chances present themselves.

@Kaarme

I think what pissed me off about the rejection was that it was always shown that Mitsuhide liked her and the reader was shown that Kiki was unsure of her feelings.

@Kaarme I don’t think that was Mitsuhide’s true reason for rejection though..... He didn’t say it right, but it was clear in the later chapters that he was deeply traumatised by getting locked and his sword taken away, he was a able to protect what was dear to him, and he’s just afraid to loose. He’s reflecting on his own helplessness of that time. He’s depressed soo much he’s having trouble sleeping. Clearly he has a psychological problem that he need to deal with, I can’t imagine him taking anything else, much less a thing as heavy as “marriage”, on his mind right now.
Although I do understand that the readers want them to end up together (for me- whatever makes the characters happy is fine though ). But if they are “meant to be”, I guess they will end up together, can’t say for sure though ?
About Zen and Shirayuki, as Zen said- they’re moving forward (=> towards it)... they’re both aiming for the castle in the north, with their own reasons and goals. Anyways, we always knew it was a slow paced manga, so why complaining now?
It was refreshing to see Izana after a while, and the subtle clues with the fiancé ( Why aren’t they married yet? Or are they? Did I miss it?). When Izana talked with Zen, it seemed so precious and adorable! Their reminiscing the past and everything...... it reminded me of the anime, the Izana’s voice actor(it was Akira Ishida, right?) And I could just imagine both of them talking like in anime ( with pictures moving) and it seemed awfully sweet with the anime background music, which is mostly there to give it a more dramatic edge or fairy-tale like atmosphere. Then it just seemed perfect, I couldn’t complain, just want more of it..... can’t wait!

Guys you need to move forward ?

Hisame is cool so I don't mind if Kiki marries him. I think they can have a good chemistry. The engagement is not sealed yet anyway, a plot twist could come along (but that's not really this kind of manga)

This feels like the authors way of trying to hitch Mitsuhide and Kiki together by forcing Mitsuhide to come out of his shell, but unfortunately the method the author chose makes it seem like instead of building their personalities, Kiki just lost all of hers. And I'm afraid this'll end up with Kiki turning into a 2D cardboard cutout that will, in the future after the mangas story, just lay on the bed with her legs wide open replying "yes dear" to every demand of her then-husband and being a nothing more but a babymaking doll.

I don't think I'd particular mind anymore even if Kiki married Hisame (he seems to value her). However, what I would mind is Mitsuhide left in that meaningless limbo he's now in. I'd be annoyed watching him cater to Zen 24/7 as if he had no life of his own. I've said it before, but it's hard to imagine Zen would be happy about it either. He doesn't need friends needlessly sacrificing themselves for his sake.

"Moving forward" like adults is often far from fairytale endings. I don't feel so negative about the romantic sides of the story development as many people here seem to. Maybe because I'm a total slowburn person IRL. :p
Really though, I do feel impatient to see these long-awaited changes happen for real, instead of preparations atop preparations. xD Like the castle-change and all that. I really want to meet Shirayuki's Dad and Zen's Mom again, too~ :3

It was what, 50 chapters ago we saw Haki last time? And I was wondering yesterday why it's snowing so heavily outside...

I totally love Haki as a character, and it's the greatest shame that we aren't getting to see more of her character development, she is still playing the role of the "mysterious girl" of this story. And will be a BIG mistake to leave her be just a background minor character who has no word in the story. Particularly, this small dialogue in this chapter have a giant potential to start new plot lines which will kick our MC's asses back in place. The romance here is at that point I don't even mind a (fake) love triangle with clever teasing. P.S. I hate NTR from the very bottom of my soul, so please, none of this shit here.

@ArpanaR
They are married, they were long ago, since they apparently did it right after the coronation. But their life is something we never got to see even a glimpse of, unfortunately.

The thing about Kiki and Hisame... I'm totally share that feeling with lord Amakize. I'm neither hate nor like Hisame, I just don't trust him, and I don't know what should happen here to make me trust him even a little. He is a very cunning and interesting person, and he is a good match for Kiki... as a rival. Yes, he does not seem to see Kiki neither like a friend or comrade, nor like a woman. She is a rival for him in his never-ending game, or, more precisely, I have an impression that he wants her to be his prey. And if she choose him, she will lose in this game completely and utterly and becomes his treasured possession given to him by lord Seiran. Kiki is a clever, wise and beautiful woman, but right now she is tired and heartbroken from all this shit with Mitsuhide who REALLY needs to tame his cockroaches and put back some loose screws in his head ASAP. And I think that that talk with Shirayuki absolutely did not help her... or it did, but in a really wrong way. Gosh...

Why there couldn't be more interesting things going on with Yuzuri, Haki, Haruto or Garack? =_= Add some more light romcom or funny action here already, it's drowning under all this slow-paced political stuff, arranged marriages and everything else. =_=

I personally find Kiki ending up with Hisame instead of Mitsuhide to be a far more insteresting route for the story to take. Sometimes life ends up working out in ways you wouldn’t have expected.

As for Mistuhide, I’m sure he’ll be fine. He still has Obi’s bisexual former partner in crime, after all! :V

Mitsuhides rejection wasn’t a mistake
His reason wasn’t bullshit
Kiki with hisame is interesting
And this manga is awesome, good and unique.

The authour is not making bad decisions, she’s just making unconventional ones.
The characters all have their own personalities and i love how the plot isn’t unfolding in the usual cliche way.

I praise the authour, she has the guts to break apart mitsuhide and Kiki.
I would like to say, that the authour has never said anything about mitsuhide liking Kiki.
Sure their interaction are amazing and I would love to ship them. But the authour didn’t want to make every single interacting pair of people a couple just cause she can. This manga has a great diversity of bonds and relationships.
Such as family, friends, lovers, comrades etc.
And isn’t forcing every character to be in a relationship.
It’s not bullshit for mitsuhide to no be with Kiki.
It’s not bullshit that he wants to help zen, it’s not that he doesn’t trust him, but he’s pretty much given his life to be an aide. Ambition? Another lover? Who says that those are the only reasons and ways to live? Those are only the conventional ones, He chose to be forever a knight, and that IS his ambition, his way of life. To say that his reason is bullshit is disrespectful to everyone else in the world that chooses their way of life over the conventional one.

And I give the authour kudos for it.

Yes, it's not bullshit that Mitsuhide and Kiki could end up with someone else. It's perfectly normal. It's also normal to dedicate your life solely to your job if it's your own MINDFUL and RATIONAL decision. But you are totally missing the point here. People are not complaining because they think that Kiki and Mitsuhide should be together no matter what. They are not complaining because they think Mitsuhide's reasons are stupid in itself. They are complaining about it because Mitsuhide did all of this with a lot of screws came loose in his head and he is being totally okay about it. THAT is bullshit.

It's obvious that Mitsuhide suffered a big blow during the Sereg incident. But instead of facing it and asking his friends for help he just went totally nuts about it and ruined everything. He rejected Kiki pretty harshly, and not because he really thinks that his job as an aide means top priority for him - he created a half-assed reason for himself and used it. Instead of telling Kiki that he couldn't answer her feelings because he is facing a big problem now in his life, he literally slapped her in the face and threw her confession back at her. It's obvious right now that Kiki was really, really hurt by it - she tells it herself several times and she is even asking Zen for help, because she sees clearly that something with Mitsuhide is going horribly wrong. And right now she is going for her engagement obviously broken, even if she is hiding it. This is wrong. This is wrong on so many levels I can't even write about it because it will take several hours for me. You could say that this is what life is, that not everything is always going on like we planned... but what is happening here and how is just plain wrong and out of character for the central person in this mess - Mitsuhide.

P.S. Try to remember how Mitsuhide behaved himself during hypnotic potion incident. That was the true Mitsuhide - extremely loyal, extremely polite, extremely mindful about those dear to him. What we are seeing right now is not Mitsuhide at all - it's a crazy version of him and he is finally starting to understand it. Also, try to remember what Zen told him several chapters ago outside of that cafe. Seems like you missed it.

?I was a hard shipper for the MitsuxKiki, i'm sad(cried a lot too), but strangely, i think this rote is good too.
I don't mind Kiki with Hisame, given all things happening here and there.
I agree with @Sparrow75, this is really unusual for a shoujo, and it's well done imo.

@SilverChaika, i get your point.
But maybe, he just decided, this is him now.
After the incident, and with the shock he got from it, he chaged, he's not crazy, hes just assimilated it and changed.
We all have some broken parts within us all, that is what i think makes this manga really fresh.
Mitsuhide decided it's ok to be what he is now, it's the way he found,he seems satisfied with it, as do the people around him.
Your coment way down here, telling your worries about Kiki just becoming a 2D character and spreading her legs, i found it offensive.
Nothing at all, show Kiki is broken like that, she's sad, YES. broken.NO.
She's fuking fiercy, and she respects the choice Mitsuhide made, because she respects him.
She's not about to became the no brains no guts donzel after she marries, don't worry.
The ones who should worry, are the boys, especially Hisame, because Kiki is no joke. ?

That wasn't mine, it was Siikalahna who wrote it. And I find it a little offensive too, I really like Kiki both as a character and a woman and it's rude to think like Kiki would do something like that.

I guess, it's finally time to set my avatar here, since it looks like I'm being confused with someone in the comments. I loved that basic meganekko avatar I received by default after the registration, so I kept it, but I think I'll change that to my usual forum avatar. And the current default avatar it not something I'd like to keep, though, it's not that bad.

Something about my preferences in characters - well, I _did_ wrote about it, but I'll say it once again, to state my view on Kiki. My favourites here are: 1) Yuzuri - I'd love to meet a girl like her and marry her. I'm not into girls who are too cheerful and/or loud or too friendly and extrovert, but Yuzuri is perfect. She is kind, she is cute, she likes cute things, she is smart (I really like smart people, and who is not smart in an "know-it-all" way), she has an open heart, she is really sexy (oh, yeah, I mean it) and fashionable (I totally LOVE the design of clothes here), she is... oh, I went somewhat overboard here, hehe. 2) Garack - as I've stated above, I really like smart people, and given her unusual character with quirks, she is adorable. 3) Kiki - she is the epitome of a lady, a perfect woman and a perfect friend, she is cool, but friendly, could be somewhat awkward, but at the same time straightforward, she is extremely kind, loving and determined , and I love the way she talks about things. And she has an awesome body. :) She is a woman you want to fall in love with, in every way possible, and you'll want her to be happy. 4) Haruto and Haki - they are really interesting characters in this setting, and it's a big fault that they are being treated as nothing more like a background. Oh, and something about male characters, for balance. I really like Zen, but I think he is on way to become somewhat boring. I liked his way of handling things in the past, minus being a little flashy, but now he is a little... I don't know how to describe him. He IS matured over these years, but he is still a little childish - it's actually a good point about him, it's what makes his character, and Izana stated it perfectly in the last chapter. But his lack of romantic moves... OK, let's not dive into it too much. I can't say that I particularly liked all of main male characters here (I had a thing for Izana in the same way as it was for Zen, but he didn't had a place to speak over the last chapters), I just think they are really good, but I'd like to look more at that Wistal head guard who appeared during the first chapters and was a friend of Shirayuki since the bird contest incident. Yes, it looks like I have a weakness for minor characters...

she's sad, YES. broken.NO.
I got the impression over all these chapters that she is hard to read and she is really good at hiding her true emotions (or more precisely, she is bad at handling them properly, so she hides them - remember her reaction when Shirayuki had a sudden breakdown before her leaving for Lyrias). And I felt that all these dialogues with her was a little bit strange over the last chapters. Maybe it's because of the translation, maybe it's because of my own overthinking things, but at this point I REALLY want to stand before Kiki and ask her "Tell me, what is wrong. I'll listen to it.".

The ones who should worry, are the boys, especially Hisame, because Kiki is no joke.
Oh, hell YES. ? I will pray for her keeping that attitude forever - that's what makes her brilliant.

Ohhh, i'm sooo sooo sorry!!?
There's too many people with the same avatar, i got you guys confused! @_@""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

''4) Haruto and Haki - they are really interesting characters in this setting, and it's a big fault that they are being treated as nothing more like a background. ''
YES YES YES!!! Me too, i would like to see way more of these girls, i expect Sensei show more of them in the future.

''But his lack of romantic moves... OK, let's not dive into it too much. ''
HAHA i feel you T_T, actually, pretty much everyone feels the same about this topic OTL.

'' remember her reaction when Shirayuki had a sudden breakdown before her leaving for Lyrias). ''
Ahh, yes, i get were you are coming now.
But i got the impression, (on that part were she shoots arrows in the dawn rigth after Mitsuhedes second time shoting her down in the festival) that she managed to put thing in perspective and decided to move on. But i get your point, i would like to see more growth with her too.?
