I'm starting to think Zen doesn't give a shit anymore, about Mitsuhide's position related to Kiki. Mitsuhide himself says he's moving forward in life, I don't quite understand the context, but perhaps it means he's ridding himself of any regrets. That being said, I still think it's ugly how he thinks after all these years Zen supposedly can't survive without the wise and mighty Mitsuhide always hanging around. If he gets too annoying, the not-giving-a-shit-anymore Zen will transfer him to some other job. It would be funny with Mitsuhide being alone without either Zen or Kiki. Then we would see if he's truly making progress in life.
Zen and Mitsuhide are total opposites. Zen is challenging the impossible by working hard to marry a commoner as a royal, while Mitsuhide pushed away a guaranteed alliance with a woman he must have at least liked more than any other and who liked him. But in the end it's of course Mitsuhide's own business to decide his own future. I just wish he didn't involve Zen in it, even as an excuse. That's the single detail that will keep bothering me. Zen never asked for such a thing.
