So indirectly killing/environmental deaths don't give exp, because that was really a lot of monkeys.

@Ezlsnow Exp based level up has always been a pretty dodgy concept, compared, for example, to skill use based one, like in Elder Scrolls. How exactly do you draw the line between directly killing an opponent and indirectly killing it? An ambiguous case in the exp scheme is party shared exp, which can be considered either good or bad. The absolutely worst mechanism is the finishing blow delivering person getting all the exp, which is also, funnily, an extremely common mechanism. It means some lvl 100 hired mofo can beat a major monster to the brink of death, and then a lvl 1 scumbag noble silkpants brat just needs to hit once with a fancy sword to reduce the HP from 3 to 0. The brat will then get all the exp and instantly level up from 1 to 15, or something.

In other words, as long as level up is based on exp, it's best to forget logic.

i guess in this world , exp works like this : at the moment of death , to gain exp , you need some kind of connection / contact / link between the killer and the killed .

in this chapter , the situation is like spider girl just pushes the monkeys into an abyss , and then a few seconds later , they are dead because they fall to the ground , there is no longer a physical contact between spider girl and the monkeys .
