HOLY SHIT, THEY WERE ACTUALLY ALIENS THE WHOLE TIME? This is getting to be some Delta Green shit. Why is it every time there's something Lovecraftian in a manga, it's always aliens? (>inb4 the lovecraftverse is all aliens, yes I know, but they're meant to be moreso gods.)
So are they supposed to be from the "middle" layer or the "outer" layer of the universe, or from something else entirely? And why are they so focused on preserving reality? (Unless it's literally just to stay in disguise.)

I thought those two were too weird to be humans. Are they trying to pull the same kind of 'reality reversal' stunt that that girl mentioned earlier?
