I have no idea if anyone noticed, whether in the first time reading or upon re-reading this chapter, but the "tank" guy is for real holding that fkin war axe backwards lol. No joke, the battlehammer on it was a secondary thing in practical usage historically, so either the guy weilding it or the artist/author doesn't know how they were used in actual combat. The axe blade was the primary use part of those, and the back of them was typically used only to add extra weight to swings unless you used a backswing, where it was used that way for heavily armored mounts, not for human opponents. I mean sure the guy might know he was about to "maybe" be fighting bears, but if he knows there are also intelligent, humanoid opponents, you would normally take out the humanoids, so as to not need to worry about the bears most of the time, or at least to avoid allowing the humanoids to coordinate both sets of opponents.. he should have had the axe head forward in his grip by default regardless, unless he was a purely unorthodox war axe weilder, and used the hammer part in a bid to disallow mobility to mounted opponents, as what is essentially an anti offensive mobility tank....
