Someone recently mentioned that perhaps it would be better to use 'shixiong, shijie, shimei, shidi' instead of 'senior martial brother, etc...' I've been using the latter as to try and keep it as English as I can but can switch it if people feel strongly about it.

So the one inside that ball of flesh is Baili Zhong. He felt A-Ting's presence in the mountain and wants to kill her because she killed his brother Baili Ji.

Shit's about to hit the fan soon.

The fact that Baili Zhong is ascending several levels within a decade 1: speaks of how powerful his special body/foundation/roots and demonic cultivation are, and 2: is one of the reasons why I can't really get into other xianxia that stretch things out for centuries and millennia. I hesitate to even group Song of the Sky Pacers in with xianxia because the focus is on A Ting and Qu Chen's story rather than the drudgery of cultivation, so time has moved very quickly both in the narrative and the experience for readers.

i like how the decisions cultivators make always come back to their personal relations (Bai Li Zhong and his brother, Ah-ting and Qu Chen, Di Wen and his family, etc). despite having severed themselves from the mortal world, they're still tied to their sentiments. it's a little poetic how everything circles back to a few incursions of harm in the grand scheme of things.

does this mean the Li Mountain cultivator will let Bai Li Zhong come out of seclusion just to kill Ah-ting and cure his inner demon, and then they'll restart the weird throbbing heart process to help him ascend to the immortal stage? i imagine Astral Projection stage is not good enough for whatever plans they have for the world. in a way, wouldn't this inadvertently delay their plans (so maybe this is kinda good for the good guys)?
