I wouldn't be too hard on Hikaru. Ichika's mom is a hypocrite and abuser, her father is a textbook example of toxic passivity, and her teacher is a coom-brained sex pest. Even if Hikaru is going about it in an awkward teenager way, at least he gives enough of a shit about Ichika to stand up for her.
