I would assume they'd make an attempt with 'dress-up doll', since that's the type of doll the English title is playing off of.

That would be pretty stupid, since Bisque Doll is a specific type originating from France. Calling it "Dress-up doll" is like... a lot of dolls for girls, not specific to bisque dolls, come with a dress up feature. Not to mention that would be disingenuous, since it's pretty obvious that title drop is a follow up on Wakana googling and end up specifically on bisque dolls.

The official tl uses "she's a bisque doll..."

The official manga always have a translation note section at the end of the volume. And in this section, they mentioned that Wakana's line was highly emphasized because it relates to the Japanese title.

It could have been worse, but still lame. I wished they hadn't invented a different title for the official English.

God, the presence of Haniel, reading back on this makes me adore this arc even more. Everything surrounding Haniel as a character is so fucking engaging and they don't even exist.
