Even if they aren't what Fukuda-sensei meant, Coelacanth are among the most ancient creatures still alive, and we even thought they were extinct, until we found living specimens in the past couple centuries. They've ostensibly remained essentially unchanged for something like 360 million years, according to some stuff I was just glancing at that also mentioned Lampreys as among their contemporaries that are still around.
