Another manga in the same vein for me as Psyren, or Rave Master. Interesting ideas and world, but not quite competent to see them all fleshed out. But like those two I mentioned, they all have the strength of likable characters that you’re glad to see off with a pleasant ending. Too many stories go far FAR too long, or get twisted into themselves. They try to be too clever, or even derail their own worlds for the sake of a twist. Or they just… kind of lose sight of what made them work at the start. For me, that’s what happened to stories like My Hero Academia and JJK. Great series that will have lasting impact on culture with outstanding characters, designs, world building, stories… that just kinda… couldn’t stick the landing. Or rather, couldn’t stick a finishing arc. At least not how they got started anyway. They sought to grow and lost how they started in the process. What I fell in love with while reading MHA or JJK was lost somewhere by the end.
Not every story needs to be ground breaking. Not every tale needs to be masterfully crafted. Sometimes, a lot of times, I am happy to simply read a nice, positive, fun story with a happy ending. Like a simple pop song; sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
