He isn't her dead husband but rather he merely takes after him. He's a chip off the old block / an apple that didn't fall far from the tree. Because emulating Dad and his mannerisms is the most effective way to make Mom proud/ content.

Wow, coming back to re-read it after the last two chapter releases really makes you realize some things.
I never realized she used an incantation.

It's also worth noting that she wasn't super aware that he was doing that.

Which that suggests that he's not acting exactly like Dad, he's just emulating some of his traits, specifically the ones she won't find weird coming from him.

The Mr. Helpers scheme is a cool idea.

Feel like a lot of robot scifi defaults to humans treating robots like tools or slaves, when really there's a ton of incentive to create robots that trigger our instincts to anthropomorphize the shit out of things.
