i won't ever understand the kind of people that complain about characters that change the dynamic on a manga that's been running for like 70 chapters
like bitch you want 650 chapters of the same god damn thing? let the author at least pretend to add some drama or something smh.

Changing the dynamic is one thing, but the new girl's attitude is awful. There's no excuse for it.

This people doesn't know how to establish a good hierarchy, if you don't like the new girl, maybe it's because you believe in CONFORMITY... and that is poison for the human being...

As a son respects his father or mother, it is not because he was only born from them, but because they earned that respect.

If you are good in something, you deserve to be RECOGNIZED and RESPECTED for that superior ability, not necessarily respect someone who doesn't. If you want to be respected on a specific topic, i, you and everyone need to improve in that topic to be considered an equal.

That respect just for having titles or time on something is wrong.

well is safe to say that she won't be a problem for them as a love rival or something, that's good.

I love the new girl, if not for any other reason than how riled up it gets people in the comment section. By all means, drop it after 73 chapters if one character kills your interest so much. She literally won't even change that much about the story. If it's not incredibly obvious by now she's not a love rival, and is just hyper competitive and respectful of her seniors abilities, I don't know else to say.

@sirflimflam People don't like her because of some perceived 'love triangle', more because of her personality and how she detracts from the previous fluff. It's not a great first impression for a new character.

I for one won't drop the manga as I hope things improve with her as a character, but I do feel less enthusiastic about the manga then usual.

I liked her at first, but now I think her attitude is annoying. I don't like how she doesn't respect people.

And so, the pecking order has been established.

Ayumu can only get back her respect if he can git gud.

I kinda like how her respect for you in one field is not determined by your status but by how well you perform in said field. Sure, from a japanese PoV it's really rude, but it actually makes sense if you think about it.
And I'm curious about what the author has planned for her.
That said, I wouldn't have minded another nth chapters of the same old fluff.

People say she doesn't respect people but she's literally saying like "If you want my respect you gotta earn it" kind of thing.

She's better at shogi than Tanaka but worse at Kendo, but in terms of how much respect she shows him she'll just choose which matters at her own convenience. It's confusing to say the least.

@Pixeldrive no she isn't. her level of respect is directly tied to a person's proficiency at frankly trivial things. this is not a sign of an interesting or tolerable person. she has the attitude of a toddler who thinks they're better because they're the fastest kid in preschool.

@Reimans Rin beat Ayumu in one game, and based on that she instantly changes to a less respectful honorific. If she did this after she beat him several times, over the course of let's say a week, then it might be justified. Winning once doesn't justify it, it just makes her look like a sore winner. Would you feel the same about her if she'd lost and changed the honorific she used afterward to a less respectful one? Then there's the fact she refused to call the president of the club she joined with the president title until said president beat her at shogi. That's rude as hell, and is not justifiable in a "earn my respect" way. That's an "I'm better than you until you prove otherwise" attitude.

One thing no one else is pointing out is that Ayumu dislikes her attitude, even going so far as to call it a "nasty trait." Also in the last chapter he didn't agree with Uroshi that Rin was a nice girl. Ayumu's not prone to hyperbole or overreacting, but he's not terribly fond of Rin. Also her response to the "nasty trait" remark can only be described as condescending:

That's not justifiable from her winning exactly once against him in shogi.

That might have all been true if there was some sort of variance involved in the game, like in Poker or Monopoly where there's a lot of randomness going on, or even in a fight, but in a slow, turn based, perfect information, no variance game like Chess or Shogi, you generally don't need to have a lot of games to quickly determine power level, especially if one side has an overwhelming victory.

Claiming you need a lot more games of Shogi to determine a winner is...silly.

Did you not read the chapter? It has an example of variance; Senpai plays poorly because of her distracted mindset, then immediately turns it around into a win when she calms down.

Gloating over being better after just one victory is fucking childish, and foolish. Sometimes people are off their game, so one win proves very little. It's not a death-game.
