The heroes are only a stopgap measure. The reality is that the society itself has to change. Ethically, i don’t agree with this, particularly because they’re manipulating children into becoming soldiers, but logically i get that they don’t have much choice if the kids are stronger on average than adults since they need soldiers that can win without causing much collateral damage. Anyway, the story may be predictable but hopefully it’s nonetheless enjoyable.

My understanding is that they are doing exactly that (changing society) by making the reformed kaijins fight other bad kaijins, they are hoping people would see that not all kaijins are bad.

You would be surprised that all these and worse are being done to girls younger than 15 in third world countries (like mine), and people are defending such acts as cultural and or religious.

Not condoning it at all, but this is mild by comparison. At least there is some vision for greater good in it, albeit creepy.
