knowing what we now know about Yukihito, all of his antics take on, like, triple meaning at this point.
Is he doing whatever he thinks would keep her at arm's length? Is he trying out different ways to get her to "take" to him, thereby fulfilling the emotional bonding/attachment side of his role, and it's all just very skeevy-coded given she's still so young?
Is he just fucking with her because that's his humor?
Who can say.
Extra Chapter Silliness aside, I am excited to see just how much she changes him, with how innocent she really is to the ways of the world. She's all-in on liking him and thinking that he's actively pursuing her, on top of trying to mentor her. If she ever learns that all of this is in-effect a gigantic betrayal of her trust and her heart on his part, the ramifications could be disastrous, given we've also learned her latent potential has next-to-no ceiling on how powerful she can be.
But I expect that this will also be a process of Yukihito healing from his own traumas and issues, and he'll genuinely change as a person alongside her. I do think there'll be conflict surrounding his duplicity at some point, and (if convention holds) it'll happen after he's come around and started to shift toward wanting to be genuine, only she'll learn about how he started as, and misunderstand.
Dunno how accurate that'll end up being, but all in all I look forward to how it all shakes out.
Thanks for keeping this one going.
