"Smell of a dangerous beast" other than metaphorically could a seasoned cop pick something like that up?

I'm surprised they don’t make something up like "a family trip" to recuperate or something and bringing her to the middle of nowhere /countryside where they can get like a lot of chickens or so. Or shame they can't just find like a bunch of criminals to feel less guilt about a human death versus her like seeking out a homeless shelter

The moral conflict the parents have is pretty well-depicted with them finally acknowledging that Mina can't be controlled with just animals.

Her friend seems like a prime target for her first human kill. And it will escalate from there. For now they basically do the zombie trope of confining the infect loved one and feeding them.
