Considering this series is all about big brain plays, that "gap" they spotted is definitely a trap.

The "I wish your general was dumb enough" on page 6 sounds kind of weird and feels like it doesn't make much sense there. What was the original Japanese?

@Terithian I don't really remember in the novel, but I think the context would either be that they are saying "your general" as they're thinking of themselves as the Marden's army, so they're saying that the enemy general is not dumb enough to not see that Natra's army is losing momentum (that's what I think is the context since it has been quite some time since I read this chapter of the novel)

Edit: I found it, chapter 11 of the novel (I won't put spoiler since it's just the novel version of this chapter talk)

Hagar shook his head.

“There are too many things in the battlefield that they need to experience with their own body…”

“… Which mean, when it comes to holding out, Marden is higher than us, huh? They had experience in a war, even though it was just skirmishing…”

“Yes. And unless they are being led by a foolish General, I believe they will not miss the opportunity to cut the thread. In this war, the turning point would be how fast we could remove Marden army before that happen…”

“I hope they are being led by a foolish General like you said then…”

Wayne said those words while sighing…

I mean we already know the MC is secretly OP all for the sake of surviving and living easy (now that I think about it he is similar to Tanya)

I will bet that this is a battle of Cannae kinda trap where they fake weakness in the middle to then entrap the over eager foe.

@Entity_101 @Terithian For the most part I'm just casually 'proofreading' this so that the English isn't jarring / is bearable. I'm not going through source materials to make sure what's being said is accurate. Though I do catch more then a few sentences that just make no sense. For context Tulip is translating from someone else's Japanese -> Spanish TL -> (Tulips) English. Then I PR it to a tolerable degree.

I'm not sure if the Spanish TL is... accurate? So to say, a lot of the sentences and words just seem over simplified.

TL:DR of my point is, I only have half a fucking idea of what's going on lol. And I have to work off of what I'm given, so I didn't notice they were talking about the enemy general. Anyways we'll get it fixed with likely some different word choices.

I'm guessing an encirclement, although it's not often the case that the enemy army runs into the middle of it on purpose, after noticing that the troops are split in two groups. I guess placing himself in a highly visible position to bait the enemy is part of the plan, but it's still very strange when the enemy general already noticed that they had lost momentum. There is no need for a gambit like rushing for the general, they just need to hold out a bit longer and crush them when they rout.

@greatninja3

He is similar to Tanya in a way. Both of them wants the easy life, only for that dream to slip further and further from their hands.

Although, this MC started with a average strength country while being sandwiched between two stronger countries.

Tanya started with the not german Empire being the hegemony on the continent sandwich at the center with all of its neighbors, at least the one worth mentioning, want it dead.

Does this clown realize that by breaking through the middle, he risks being surrounded if the Prince has already planned for this? In other words—they intentionally thinned the lines in order to draw them out. Once they pierce the center, the forces on both sides can shift into a right angle formation on both sides crushing the enemy forces from their right and left and back (intentional retreat). Basically, surrounding them on 3-sides.

The enemy can attempt to push through to the general, but that's only if they make it through the tunnel of death! 😂

Though, I'll wait to see what happens! 😂😅

@Kynnath Agreed! Though, the enemy appears to be impulsive and wants to end this quickly. They are supposed to be dumb and impulsive. =P
