Thanks for the explanation. The novel seems much more consistent at least.
At least, I understand that this whole thing is a filler that should have no real importance in the story afterwards.
This arc here seemed to start as described in the novel (time limit, increased pressure, the MC's team going on the last day), but apparently decided that wasn't visually impressive enough and started adding illusions, which could be described as a visual representation of the pressure. They were a nice way to represent the increasing spiritual pressure of the stairs. It fits a manhua better than just having the characters describing it. As they say in movie industry: "show, don't tell". It was getting a bit too long though.
But now, we apparently have an actual legendary individual in a locked dimension (or something like that) and that makes the whole story confusing.
They should have stuck to the novel on that one, shorter if a bit bland. I'm not against some creativity involved in moving from one support to another, and the illusions were ok. But this one is breaking the internal consistency of the stairs as explained so far.
