It's like, "Oh, my body's a girl now, therefore, I must pair up with a man." Like, did your personality changed or something?

Then again, if you swing that way toward another man (before becoming a girl), more power to you.

what if i swing both ways,but lack the physical tools to swing both ways

"current gender defines sexual preference doesn't make sense" You sure about that? Let's think about this for a minute. What kind of things can alter a person's mentality? Diet and exercise is one. Getting into shape can greatly improve one's mood and change the way they think about themselves to the point where they're like a whole new person. Mental illnesses are treated with drugs and sometimes surgical procedures. Serious brain damage can completely change a person's personality. Everything that changes the mind is done through changes to the body, which makes sense since the body is a product of the mind. Maintaining a male mentality after your body is turned female? Now there's something that doesn't make sense. So where does that leave sexual preference? Is it a product of the body as well or the mind? It obviously can't be the mind because if the mind had any say on a person's sexual orientation then it really would be a choice. People could pick and choose who they're attracted to whenever and however they wanted. No, sexual orientation has to something that's hardwired into the body. So after taking all that into account what would happen if someone's entire body changed into the opposite gender? Do you still think such a drastic change would have no effect on their mind? On their orientation?

Neurology isn't that simple, and we're defined by more than just our base physiology.

It's been shown that there are some genetic and hormonal factors that can have prenatal influence over the direction of a person's personality, identity, and orientation. But it only provides that starting point -- the recipe, if you will. Our brains continue to develop over the course of our lives by the formations of neural pathways from the accumulation of experiences and memories on top of those foundations, and as these networks become more and more complex, the influence of those genetic and hormonal factors falls off.

These constant developments shape who we become as we take in more and more of the world and accumulate more experiences. It doesn't have to follow the recipe precisely. If your particular development causes your identity and orientation to diverge from its original blueprint, that's just how it is. But it would happen naturally. You didn't choose it, and you can't do anything about it. But it won't automatically change just because your body's biology does, either.

Meanwhile, the concept of having a "male" or "female" brain is itself largely nonsense, as research has slowed that male and female brains don't differ in any statistically significant way. The only thing that would really change if you swapped genders are factors that no longer matter at the developmental stage of the average genderswap character. If your memories and overall brain's development hasn't changed -- or put another way, if you are still you -- then there's no reason to expect that to change much either.

A character who genderswaps at a young age might be more prone to potential changes as their brain is more "malleable" and they're likely still going to be in the self-exploratory stage anyway. Or someone whose sexuality was already vaguely defined, who might be more open to exploring options they felt weren't available to them before. But it wouldn't result in instant mental 180s from the moment of swap, and honestly this isn't much different than any regular person in a regular body going through the same shit anyway. But it's one way that stories where the swapped character falls in love with the opposite of their original preference can still be natural. In these cases, there still won't be nonsense like "ho hum, girls aren't attractive to me anymore." it will just be a natural exploration of sexuality shaken up by a sudden change in gender perspective.

You can get around all of the above by saying that the entire brain and all of its neural pathways was replaced with those typical of someone of the new gender and the same age, without the influence of the original person's development. This is the only way what you suggest could possibly work. But that that point, there's nothing left of the original person. The genre has changed to personality replacement.

Well, since it has become like this, I also want express my own opinion...

So for me, i prefer normal relationship (boy x girl) instead of something like yuri or yaoi, but it doesn't mean i hate that genre. (I do read some after all)

So back to the topic of TS, because of my preference, I do like the development where the one who's being Ts'ed slowly discovering how to love a male characters (either a close friend, a rival, neighborhood onii-san, etc).

TS itself is something a kind of like "magic", so if some people above believe that "change in the body doesn't change anything in the mind", that's fine, i respect that. But I'm one of the believer of the opposite, well because it's a fiction.

Not only that, human curiosity is quite fascinating. Now humor me, if you, a male, suddenly change into a female without warning whatsoever, what's the first thing you do? Of course, some people will panic first, but after that? After you're calming down? Checking the body right? At least some will also tried to touch either the "mountain" or the "valley" or both. Given some time some will also have a curiosity to try "that". Well, first time with toys and then tried the "real thing". In that process, i believe something change in the mind, not drastically but slowly and surely....

Well, not like something like that can happen irl. :v

I think it all kinda comes down to what you want from a series, what kind of perspective you approach it with. In that regard, TS is kinda neat because it has a number of different angles of approach that will appeal to different audiences who may see themselves in different roles.

And like I was saying before, natural exploration of sexuality is totally fine and gradual change as one discovers more about themselves is not unexpected (and if you ask me, I think lots of people would have that in them to some extent).

It's only the sudden "flipping of a personality switch" with ham-fisted rationale that I personally find unpleasant and will turn me off from a series. But that too is my own personal preference -- I prefer when change comes in a way that feels natural and relatable.
