In what fucking way lol? Superior in getting his ass kicked 10 second in to a fight?Stark showing once again he's far superior to Himmel.
Himmel wasn't a warrior, he was a peasant posing as a hero; Eisen, on the other hand...Stark showing once again he's far superior to Himmel.
It's kind of incredible that even in this situation, Frieren is training Fern and giving her responsibilities that she could easily do herself. I'm not sure if it's arrogance or if that's just how it is. But it's something that's been a constantly throughout the series: frieren greatly holds herself back and never does anything unnecessary in order to allow her students to improve. Even when it puts her at great risk, it's rare that she actually fights seriously.
The standard shield used to stop Zoltraak is already super mana intensive. Besides, using it against arrows is really hard because those arrows can not be detected by mana detection. You would have to cover your entire body with the shield, the whole time too, but that would use an unholy amount of mana. Better to keep a warrior in your party that can deflect those kind of attack for you.I feel like once a combat mage knows an archer is trying to snipe them, they should have shields up when they know they are in the open. This is Fern not Frieren, but I just think mages, aware of being under attack, shouldn't be in such danger of being killed by warriors or archers while they still have mana. The way the Zoltract shielding was described before was it would hold up against physical attacks by warriors just long enough to be able to counter attack (and therefore doesn't need to be more complicated/sturdy as that would make it way too mana intensive).
Yeah it was more like, Fern fired and then was still standing and not getting back into cover, so I would think she should put up a shield for the couple of seconds she was in the open and assessing. Obviously, if she knew Stark would cover her then sure, don't waste the mana. But I don't know if I would've relied on him being up for that vs burning the mana for a couple of seconds to stop any reprisal and not rely on the guy who just woke up from being unconscious and was engaged in melee a second ago ;pThe standard shield used to stop Zoltraak is already super mana intensive. Stark and Fern got dunked on by Solitar alone, meanwhile Himmel and drunk priest can hold their own and threaten Solitar + Grausam. Stark also got kinda beaten by an old shadow warrior. So I don't think Himmel is that far behind Stark in term of raw strength, and his fighting technique thingy is definitely above gorilla type warriors like Stark and Eisen.Stark showing once again he's far superior to Himmel.
