The guy also said that maybe the shooter deliberately spared the nun's life. And that's most likely what actually happened. Remember Fern's super long range attack is powerful enough to kill Solitar. There's no way the nun's defenses would have protected her if Fern really wanted to kill her.

You have a point. However, even if she could do kill the nun but didn't do it on purpose, I still believe in Kanehito-sensei and think it's not a "classic manga protag" move.
