Did Schlatt just pulled a Minerva from Assassin's Creed 2/Brotherhood? Holy crap.

  • Reminds me of that moment from Assassin's Creed. Chills.
  • Two people who can see the future, and both of them knew they're going to die. Such chads.

To the demon who left it all behind.
And his overwhelming presence!

"The only way to make demons fall in line is fear"
Wait

Didn't we just go over a whole bunch of chapters about how demons don't have emotions in the same way as humans?

I'd understand the fear there as simply the fear of death or, inversely, the will to survive. Most animals would struggle to avoid anything that threatens to kill them—even something like an insect. And demons are intelligent enough to recognize a more complicated threat to their lives, such as: "if I disobey the demon king, I will be executed." Using the word "fear" for this idea, especially in dialogue, makes enough sense.

Was there an actual need and importance for the plot to erase the memories of Macht for not let Frieren to watch the demons' fight against the hero of the south?
Or it was for just not showing again how they fight because we saw a few panels back then?
Also they specifically said Frieren when there are actually 3 or 4 people in total who has already watched Macht's memories including Frieren.

if Frieren sees the whole battle, she will know how each Sage of Destruction fight (especially their signature-magic) and how Hero of the South counter them. that info alone can be VERY useful for Frieren if in the future she fight against the SoD who survived from HotS battle.

and while it's true that there are 3-4 people who would watch Macht's memories, Frieren is by FAR the biggest threat for demons. she has great deal of knowledge in magic, and can come up with countermeasure for any spell if given enough time to analyze. and her being an elf, she has all the time in the world.

Interestingly, all of the people present at that battle are now dead, except Macht so knowing their magic is moot at this point.

With the tidbits of other surviving hidden Great Demons + the Hero of the South knowing the future,
It's probably more of the Hero of the South knowing what Schlacht's "contingency plan" was, since both of them know that the Demon King is getting defeated by the Hero party

It ended up being a multiple gambit pile up
  • The Myriad Future Sight General sees Macht will have his memories basically dumped
  • Also sees that Frieren is the person who will read those memories and will travel back in time
  • Opens two options/possibilities
1. Frieren, if she knows of the battle, will/can change its outcome beyond what can be seen and planned for right now - and that's already a very close fight which will end with the deaths of several generals
2. Frieren will also be stranded in time and it will be possible to kill her future/present self
- He won't survive the fight with the Southern Hero but he can give directions to other Demons to ambush Frieren, but none of the above can be in Macht's memories: Neither the outcome or how the fight goes, nor of any information passed on about Frieren travelling through time into an eventual ambush

If Macht needs "things" to create gold, I wonder if Grausam powers is to eliminate things from existence, how else would he be a match for Macht?
